McGregor was/is an easy million buy star. Even 2 million. Francis is not.

There's a reason Floyd would box Conor. He's a lucrative product.

Again...Francis is not.

Francis is very physically imposing, but he's no Mike Tyson. He can't even match the star power of a 5'9" 150 lb Irishman.

Doesn't matter. Francis vs Fury would have still been a big fight. Let Francis get the bag and then decide from there.
 
Why would u want to pay your heavyweight champion a huge contract so he could got get embarrassed in boxing? The financial side of the Conor/Floyd fight made sense. It was a perfect matchup between 2 unique characters with huge followings. The odds of something like that coming together at the right time is very small.

To be fair, Conor came back to MMA and started cashing 20m dollar checks for each fight afterwards lol. UFC doesn't want to pay fighters what they're worth but Conor generated so much money they had to.
 
While this is a big loss for the ufc, IMO it isn't that big. Francis is pushing 40, it's not like losing a young champ with a long career ahead of him. Frank maybe fights 3 more times, and he's lucky if he makes much money in more than one fight. Looks like he will go box someone for a big payday and that will be that.

However if he can win this boxing fight, well then that will change things and I will tip my hat to him. But if he threw away his ufc title to go get clowned on for money IMO it's not worth it. That's how people will remember you

Francis' last fight he made $600k and made $100k on PPV points. Francis is not a PPV draw man.

For all the highlight reels and the awesome back story, the market just wasn't great for him. His most memorable wins are against 40 year old firefighters, former PED abusers that were peaked 10 years ago and people with 10 career fights.

The heavyweight division needs more needle movement but Francis didn't move it as good as it has in the past.

Why would Fury even bother with Francis? Francis can't box and is 10 levels below Fury. It would be of no service to Fury, only Francis. Fury would be dancing by himself selling that PPV, nobody outside of MMA would care about it.

So guys like Usman, Adesanya, Cormier...not are exactly big needle movers yet we have good reason to believe they all made around 2-5m per fight as champs, on occasion possibly more. But N'Gannou made 700k after the backend percentages as HW champ?
 
Have seen this stated numerous times now, and I’m certain it’s not simply the consequence of an echo chamber regurgitating itself with no individual thought and reasoning; but in what way is Gane a favourable match-up for Jon Jones, and how is it even remotely conceivable that he can be announced as the favourite in this contest?

Other than the most noticeable factors impacting Jon I.e ring rust, first time competing at HW, are people already forgetting just how incredibly gifted Ciryl Gane is? He’s unbelievable and the worst type of match-up for Jones, who I give the upmost respect for even considering this bout.

People will state that Jones will bring wrestling, and implement a game plan similar to that of Ngannou. Firstly, Gane will be more prepared for this and secondly, Jones’ wrestling has steadily declined/not been utilised anywhere near as much comparative to the past. Stamina/weight will be key also.

If Jones does end up defeating Gane, let’s not undersell this accomplishment. This will cement his legacy as an all time great.

Not the same at all. Conor is the biggest star in the sport both were the biggest in combat sports in general. Dana even then didn’t want to go through with it since it would’ve potentially made the UFC look bad if Conor lost pretty bad

No idea other than what google says. I'm sure there's other checks written that aren't just what the UFC pays them for their purse. If those guys made that much money I don't know what the source is cause that wasn't their purse.

Only way they do it is if Tyson wants an easy payday where he gets Almost all of the pot
 
Terrible look for the UFC, and Dana as a greedy bully of a negotiator, Ngannou was one of the best things UFC had going for them in terms of home-grown talent. And to let him go now over an amount of money which would be pocket change to people near the top of a real sport like NBA/NFL/etc.. this is why UFC's ceiling will always hang well, well short of real sports and will not be taken seriously. UFC is not a sport, this is a circus clownshow where they don't pay the athletes a fraction of what they should. Dana is not a respectable human being, UFC is not a respectable company, and that will remain true as long as they keep conducting business like this.

Why in the world would he make that much money to fight Francis? People don’t really care about that. Everybody knows who’s going to win in boxing..
