Francis has no Real Options Outside UFC

But trying to see this through ESPN's perspective, is it better for them to have a one off Ngannou vs. Fury (that will do good PPV, I'm sure), or have Ngannou locked in the UFC for another 5 years/ 8 fights on PPV as well?

Because Ngannou is a monster and a good asset to UFC, which is now bringing money to everyone involved and making everyone happy.

I thought it was common knowledge, just like how many posters also claim UFC fighters can't have sponsors, yet they they can have as many sponsors as they want. I guess it just paints the better narrative that the UFC is evil when posters mentioned it.
The issue is if you tell fighters like hey we will take a little off each fight to pay for into a pension and insurance that follows you after you retire. A lot of fighters will disagree and want the money up front.

Tyson Fury is a top rank fighter who's contracted to ESPN. They are not going to touch Francis without UFC's blessing. There are no other money fights. UFC's got ngounou by the balls.

Remember conor vs mayweather wouldnt have been anywhere near as successful without UFC promoting and backing it. Without the UFC ngannou isnt worth that much to boxing promoters.

This concludes bubba's sherBiz 101 class. youre welcome.

LOL. He can fight a Paul brother and probably make more in 1 fight than he has made in his entire UFC career.

You are right in the sense of he has no real option for a true career path outside the UFC. He can fight Bellator scrubs for slightly more then the UFC is paying for a while, but that’s about it.

HOWEVER… he just needs one big boxing match to more then compensate for anything he might have earned in the UFC for the next 5 years. One big match will solve all his problems, and he wants to do it now while he’s still a hot name. Totally understand it in his shoes, why destroy your body in the HW division when you can fight one boxing match and make 5x as much money (possibly more).

Espn is owned by Disney. If they think they can make a ton of money on that fight they won't stop it. They care less about what the UFC wants to do than you think.

It's a damned if you damned if you don't situation. That's where a union situation would benefit but fighters are very selfish when it comes down to it, it'll be hard for them to agree on a happy medium with pay, benefits, medical etc. The problem is also most of these guys who are filling up the roster in the UFC currently is not very good and most won't even make it pass 6 fights in the org.

If he fought Wilder or Ruiz those would be big money fights as well. Anyone with a name in boxing, really. He could also fight Rumble in Bellator

Lol At espn not touching Francis without UFCs blessing. The relationship is the other way around espn /Disney sets the rules
ESPN/Disney are not the only network that broadcast boxing. 7 years ago Disney was irrelevant in the boxing scene (Friday Night Fight doesn't count).
Francis should consult Al Haymon and ain't nobody scared of Dana and his little threats.

I suspect Coker will offer him more than 500,000 per fight
Fedor gets paid 2+ million per bout right now. I would imagine Ngannou would get 3 mill per bout, which is more then Ngannou makes even with PPV points

You are right about the selfishness of the fighters. There is another issue. Do you insure someone for life if they fought once in a prelim? No insurance company will write up this type of policy.

Tyson is way too smart for that. Perhaps he is just trying to help Francis along with getting a new contract. I’d be pretty surprised if this ever happens. But either way Francis damn well better win next Saturday after all this controversy and talking about his contract.
Of course the average fan wants to see those fights. As for Tyson Fury, he pretty clearly wants the fight and also wants to make money. If you believe otherwise that's great but I'll use common sense as well as his own words.

Fury likes his tuneup fights. Ngannou is a better paying tune up fight then the likes off Otto Wallin, Tom Schwarz, Francesco Pianeta, etc.

Yea it's a hard one that us fans on a Karate Forum can only speculate and give our 2cents. Execution of a well thought out plan is the UFC's problem. These things won't change overnight, but everyone expects it to. UFC or MMA in general has made moves to benefit the fighters in terms of this health, injuries over the pass decade. If you want benefits/health insurance for life then you get a real job like the rest of the population. That's all I can think of. MMA is not a career you want to keep pursuing especially if you're not that good at it.

He can't pick a complete novice as a voluntary defence, even if he was due one. Which he isn't.

It's likely true he could get a boxing match for more than the 7 million Dana was offering, but then after getting KO'd by a boxer, his worth and future would look bleak. He's no Conor in the sales department.

What is this obsession with Francis and money my god

it’s like this odd SJW white knighting defense to him

the dude is wealthy.
He signed his contract

if he wants to leave, he’ll leave

Bellator would probably jump to pick up the UFC champion. They would let him box too.

Btw that 7 mill was over the course off his contract, not per bout
