Floyd Mayweather Jr. retires?

Pretty sure that announcement has happened bro and mayweather wasn't part of it. Correct me if im wrong.

Actually, you are. The announcement was postponed.

Most think it was the regulation of MMA in NY, not mayweather.

i'll tell you this...if the announcement on tuesday is weak im burning the UFC headquarters down.

im tired of this huge announcement shit.

Get ready for something between a TV deal on Fox and a new sponsor.

well then i was on the same page.

i felt it was a huge sponsor who "might" get some % of the company.

or TV Deal.

my dirty little fantasy was bringing back PRIDE but even if they did it would be PRIDE it would be UFC in Japan.

i should have just Pm'd you once i heard about it. i called my contact at the networks and they knew nothing. sounds like its a deal with the suits that, eventhough signed, is still something that wont start till down the road?

I've been thinking about this mayweather retirement and I'm betting as soon as DLH announces his next fght, Floyd will as well soon after.

I think DLH blew hs chance wth his medocre performance against Forbes. I think that fight was supposed to generate interest in a rematch, I think GB probably thought DLH would blast through Forbes. Turns out he didn't and actually ate more punches than I've ever seen him eat before. Oscar struggles with a guy who was feather fisted at 130 at 150 who was admittedly picked because he was a lesser version of Floyd. Couple all that with the disappointing first fight...

I don't think Floyd wanted the oscar rematch. If Cotto beats Margarito in front of a large audience, convincingly, I think that fight happens. Otherwise, the retirement may be real as there is no big fight out there for mayweather.

he's gonna join the UFC, haha.
it's part of Dana White's big surprise.

yeah right, how many fighters retire?

Maybe he realized that the Promoter(Goldenboy) might engineer some bs with the judging to repay the debt that "they" owe DLH and his legacy due to the decisions he's lost in big fights which earned everyone involved tons of dough?

Sorta recompense for career contributions .... woulda really put DLH over to beat a P4P who'd already beaten him, despite his former shortcomings in big fights.

He and his ego coulda gone into retirement in style then.

I can see him now, "I'm retiring ; I KNEW I could beat him!"

Mayweather would have inherited the eternal heartburn that Hagler lives with now and every day since he lost to Ray Leonard without a shot to gain redemption.

As conspiracy theories go, that's a pretty good one.

That's what I mean. It's one of those that's kind of out there, but even as you read it you think, "You know, that's not so far fetched."

One thing that Floyd has definitely been concerned with on a personal level has been his legacy.

As for Oscar being in the promoter's chair, the saying goes that absolute power corrupts absolutely. That would be a tough temptation to resist on his part.

boxing can only go downhill from here. With Mayweather gone boxing really has no standout stars other than has bens like de la hoya. Boxing may never recover.

Famous last words ... mainly because it's been proven wrong so many times.

If Floyd doesn't fight within a year I'll eat my navel lint.

They're all awful?

Alright, Reasonable Doubt was pretty good. The rest suck.

Either you're all being sarcastic or you know nothing about Hip-Hop. I'll go ahead and say it for those who don't know. The artists referred to all claimed to be retired but then later came back and did more collaborations, performances, and released more albums.
