Christ, religion is the worst.*Christ religion is the worst
And I see the irony there lol

But we don’t need your opinion or mine, The Quran is a very short book, read it. The instructions are plain and simple, these people are not flying planes into buildings because of their economic situation. They are doing it because they believe they will go to paradise and it is there a duty as it is written in their holy book.Well, I am not muddying the waters. We are discussing the context. The same religion can be interpreted 10 different ways by those who chose to interpret it. At the current state of things, we have more violence coming from Islam, but I am pointing out the fact that at some point Christianity had the same issues. In my humble opinion, the fact that we have Islam perceived as more violent, is a construct of a system. It is designed to have that effect, it serves someone's purpose.
Holy shit! I'm not defending Islam!!! WTF is wrong with you people? You're asking why it's as fucked today in the modern world, and I'm providing historical reasons why it's went in that direction, while Christianity has become kinder and gentler (and straying further from the founding texts). You guys just want me to say "Islam bad/Christian good" or else I'm a leftist! Which is fucking hilarious, albeit for other reasons. If he’s a leftist then it’s even more ridiculous, shouldn’t leftists be for things such as equal rights for both genders, and the rights of homosexuals to exist etc. how does a leftist reconcile this while defending Islam?
Exactly, christianity has distanced itself from its most extreme concepts, and Islam has not which is why it’s a big issue TODAY while Christianity and Judaism and Hinduism, and Buddhism are pretty benign by all comparisons.Holy shit! He should read "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by Lawrence of Arabia. Great biographical account of the Arab Revolt in WWI.There's no point in arguing with you as you have zero clue of the history in the region post WW1.
Thanks for demonstrating you don't even know the difference between the Abrahamic religions and the rest.Do you think a peaceful Buddhist that makes a vow against materialism is the same "fucked" as Islam?

That is only true if you chose to interpret it literally. Neither the Bible, Or Quran or the Torah is written for literal interpretation. It is a coded, veiled text with multiple layers of information encoded into it. And it is interpreted completely differently, once you understand what the text is supposed to mean and it is even understood differently by different people groups in literal sense. Muhammad and Jesus are fictional characters, serving a purpose....a narrative. Me and you and others here, will interpret the same comment/text differently. It is not a clear instructional booklet. But we don’t need your opinion or mine, The Quran is a very short book, read it. You cannot compare Jesus to Mohammed. One was basically a hippie teaching people to turn the other cheek while the other was a conquering war lord who imposed his will Genghis Khan styles. Come on dude, be serious.
Honestly, in a lot of countries Islam gets mixed with culture/politics, and people use it to justify stuff that goes against Islam.
For example, my parents are against me marrying someone who was divorced, has children, and/or a widow. Because they think the desi community will look down on them and stuff.
But in Islam, marrying someone like that is a good thing, as those kinds of women usually have a harder time getting married.
OK but that is exactly my point, there are virtually no Christians who are interpreting the Bible literally today, definitely not organized groups that have any type of impact on the world. And even if they are interpreting it that way they are certainly not acting it out. That is only true if you chose to interpret it literally. In the case of Islam you have a religion of more than 1 billion people, and of that billion a good percentage do interpret it literally and act it out daily, that is exactly the problem.
Who cares what you interpret it as?
We're not here to debate your personal, philosophical opinions. You're a nobody on the internet.
Prophet Mohammed was the perfect Muslim, and 100% of all Muslims must follow his example. He owned slaves, had multiple wives, and led wars.
There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world who do interpret the Quran literally.
Not sure if we are talking about the same thing here....most Christians do actually interpret it literally, but yet, come to a different conclusion reading the same text. There are however degrees of separation. There are many Islamists who are peaceful and have no desire for violence, and there are those who are "fundamentalists" who interpret it quite differently and in a more radical manner. All parties are deceived.OK but that is exactly my point, there are virtually no Christians who are interpreting the Bible literally today, definitely not organized groups that have any type of impact on the world. There's absolutely no reason to bring up Christians as being bad unless you want to create a diversion away from modern Islam.
Are you a leftist? Yes or no. Are you a moderate liberal? Yes or no.
