Social Fixing California

it's starting to become like NY, people come here to get ahead in life and leave. There are a few types of people in Cali, generally the really poor or the really well off, hardly in between compared to other states. It's great if you're well off, but if you're the poor types, then you're likely living in an illusion. I know 40-50 year olds renting in California, their whole lives.... That's not a good thing right? At some point, you gotta own something.................

California is being forfeited by the natives to foreigners.

Besides births, the main reason California’s population hasn’t already started falling has been international migration into the state. Every year since 2011, net domestic migration has been negative—i.e., more people leave California than move in from other states. But from 2011 to 2016, the number of international migrants moving into California was larger than the number of locals who were moving out.

Since then, however, domestic departures have outstripped international arrivals. In 2018, 156,000 locals left the state, compared to 118,000 international who came.

The huge number of Asians moving in is barely ever discussed.
I had to add this

LOS ANGELES — A growing number of Californians are contemplating moving from the state — and not due to wildfires or earthquakes but the sky-high cost of living, according to a survey released Wednesday.

The online survey, conducted last month by Edelman Intelligence, found that 53 percent of Californians surveyed are considering fleeing, representing a jump over the 49 percent polled a year ago. The desire to exit the nation’s most populous state was highest among millennials, the survey noted.

^^^^ Probably lives in a shit hole like Fresno.

I was born very poor in SoCal (L.A.), grew up in NorCal (Roseville), went to college in SoCal (UCSD / UCLA), and live in Huntington Beach, CA.

It's gone to shit. We have homeless all over the place now. Crime has skyrocketed since the Democrats forced high density housing and now are forcing more low income housing. Our City Attorney is fighting the state to stop it. He will likely lose. I forgot to mention the drug epidemics that have hit all of our high schools (HB High, Edison, Oceanview, Marina, and Fountain Valley) all schools have seen a huge swing in drugs. They are turning the 405 Freeway into a toll road, so it will become like the 91 Freeway which is a nightmare. The congestion is insane now. They have closed our nuclear plant for no good reason running up the price of energy and making it come from Fossil fuels. We have no real 2nd Amendment Rights. Our schools are pushing crazy PC shit and indoctrinating the kids. Taxes! Cost of Living! Gas! Shitty roads!

Downtown HB used to be a real cool, chill environment. Now we have a bunch of tweekers all over the place and the cops can't keep up.

Once my son finishes High School, stand out wrestler at the top school in the county and a video editing specialist running the TV station, we will move. I hope to God he picks a college out of state, so he gets out too. I have been looking at Meridian, Idaho - Orange Beach, Alabama - and Pensacola, Florida. I will make my HB home a rental at over $4K a month. The good news is, wherever I move, I will never vote for a Democrat again, so no worries to my new neighbors about me bringing the fail that is California with me.

Are the areas south of you still decent? I'm referring to Dana Point and San Clemente. I'm a big fan of tressles.

Yes. My cousin (ridiculously wealthy) lives right above the harbor in Dana Point, that place is very nice. San Clemente is chill, but has the best wave in SoCal at Lower Trestles, Old Man's is the best long board wave just a mile down the beach in front of San Onofre Nuclear Plant (decommissioned). Laguna Beach is still the elite and best diving beach in Orange County.

It looks like you've got your terms mixed up.

We're talking about "cities" not "shitholes". LMAO.
These SoCal hate threads are always hilarious. We have poor people who think that they’re middle class complaining about the cost of living and people from literally shit holes running their mouths. It feels great not to be poor.

There are no elite wrestling schools in Huntington unless you’re referring to Calvary chapel. Which is in Santa Ana, which would explain your problem with homeless people. The best wrestling schools in SoCal are in San Diego, NorCal and a few in the middle of nowhere like Bakersfield. Unless of course you meant top academic school not top wrestling school.

As for blaming the democrats. I always laugh when people blame any political party for a states issues. Go look at National poverty, unemployment and crime rates by state and there’s a shit ton of red states leading the pack. Acting like it’s one political parties fault is complete negligence. All states have these problems whether they’re red or blue.

(1) Apparently, your information on California High School Wrestling is aged. Fountain Valley High has an amazing record in SoCal and a U.S. Champ going into his Junior year. It's why men like Rampage Jackson move their kids to the program. You ever heard of Daniel Cormier? He's the head coach of the State Champion Wrestling Team from Gilroy. Near Fresno is another top school. California's Central Valley has the best teams at this time.

(2) Democrats run California. They have a Super Majority and there are zero statewide politicians that are Republican.

california is about the same as its always been once you get outside of the major cities. I live near Yosemite and nothing has changed here in 100 yrs

lol... yet gays and transgenders receive tons more press and are, "not a significant population pool from which to draw any national level conversations".
I don't think they are either. But sexuality is a national based conversation and gays and transgenders are within that.

Similarly, race issues are a national based conversation and Asians are within that. Asians get plenty of discussion within the race based conversations. They don't get more conversation than that because of the reasons I mentioned.

Fountain valleys barely top 50 in California and not the best school in Orange County(which is a weak wrestling County fwiw). Rampage lives near fountain valley/costa mesa so it would make sense that his kid goes there. I agree with you on Gilroy and Central Valley though. I always associated buchanon and Clovis with NorCal but yeah they’re in the central division. Poway and rancho bernardo are the two powerhouses I was referring to from San Diego.

Fountain valley had one kid place in state and he didn’t even win the state tournament. “US champion” lol. I don’t even know what the hell that means but I know for a fact it doesn’t mean a national champion through the schools, so I hate to break it to you but the kid who placed at state probably isn’t even ranked top 25 in the country. You’re grossly exaggerating.

Republicans run Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky and Louisiana yet those states have more violent crime, poverty and unemployment than California. Must be those damn democrats ruining those states too.

I've been all over the place and I can't think of one state but Cali that has priced middle class people out so bad that they are shitting all over streets and front door of businesses. And cities are hiring clean up crews for it. Think of that. Clean up crews....for fucking cleaning up human shit. FUCKING LOL!!!

Some of you Cali-tards just need to get over yourselves and admit you have some major issues. But Derp "5th highest economy" DERPA DERPA DEEEERRRRRRPPPPP!!!

Well that fucking settles it then. One irrelevant poster on Sherdog hasn't seen shit on the sidewalk, that means it's not happening and cities aren't hiring clean up crew to clean it. That's it. End thread.

You didn't even mention Central California as the real powerhouse of California Wrestling, which has the top 3 schools and 7 out of the top 10, now you're an expert on SoCal?

Rampage does not live in the school district for Fountain Valley. Where he lives, and I am not going to share, because that's not cool, has literally 6 schools with programs that he could go to closer. Fountain Valley Wrestling will fall apart in 2 years. Their current junior class was one of the most talented they have seen in a long time and will likely see in another decade. They will have at least one State Champ from that class for the next two years, who has already won a national title. Their head coach retired after over 2 decades and the new coach is weak and is alienating some of the best talent on the team. But, to discount that program is to not know SoCal Wrestling and the home of 5 Counties which is one of the biggest tournaments in all of the U.S.A. for High School Wrestling. I suspect the school won't win CIF for over a decade after next year's season is over. But, yeah... the school was a beast for a long time. Coaches matter.

My wife drives my son to the school for the program, but now he's thinking F this and wants to go to Huntington Beach. We may let him transfer, but he will have to sit most of his Junior year if he does it now.

I wrestled and coached at a school that was pretty much equivalent to what FV is now. Cif winners, few masters placers and occasional state placers. I also wrestled at five counties 3 times so I know all about the tournament. Just because you host it doesn’t really mean shit though. I’m not discounting the program I’m just calling it what it is, it’s good but not elite by any means and not the best in Orange County like you said. As for the national title, it was problem an out of season tournament that doesn’t actually have the countries best which is clear since this “national champion” didn’t even win state. That’s like me bragging about beating “word champions” who won some second tier judo competitions. I agree though that coaches matter which is evident by Cormier taking over at gilroy and poways old coach retiring.

You mean the same issues facing most state in the country?

They have a housing shortage because they have a lot of people and a lot of demand to live/work there. That's not a problem in any real sense. Rising wealth inequality is a national issue. If no one's fixing it on the national scale - why is it uniquely bad in CA? Some of the worst roads/public schools in the country and some of the best.

The housing shortage has another element: limited construction of new housing on top of the strong economy and a lot of people wanting to live here. CA's Gini is 7th among all states, which is high (that is, the inequality issue is worse than it is in the country as a whole). My guess (don't know for sure) is that you tend to have higher Ginis in urban areas, which means that it could be misleading for states with a high percentage of the population that is urban. There's also a connection between per-capita wealth and inequality so that could also be misleading (BTW, Alabama is seriously fucked, as it is highly rural and poor, and still has super high inequality).

Anyway, the notion that California is in particularly bad shape is wrong. It's actually in very good shape. But housing is a serious issue, and most people's lives would be improved if more construction were allowed.

I wouldn't. To each their own. That's what great about America.

I'd say this is the most important post in the thread. California has plenty of problems, as most American cities do right now due to wages not matching inflation and a housing crisis (We're going through that right now)

California also contributes more to the National economy than most states. So when people talk about liberals ruining the state I find it odd that the red states that are an economic drain aren't considered far worse than Cali.

We go where we feel we belong. I could never live in a bumfuck town in the Midwest or the South but I know dudes who absolutely love it so good for them.

We go where we fit.
