Five outdated burger chains attempting to make a comeback

Always liked A&W. They just have poor corporate marketing/commercialism. A&W should have never branded away from their classic look, that's A&W tradition.
Think PE or whatever bought them. Was only one in MoCo and it was tragically under invested. Place was old and run down and probably got half the traffic it would have gotten. But hey they shaved off half a percent of costs

When was the last time anyone here was in a Friendlys? For me, I was a kid so late 80s maybe the early 90s

I don't see how Krystal is outdated, they simply suck. Actually these all seem to just use a lot of retro branding which isn't really the same as outdated imo, I was expecting to see a bunch of near-extinct chains

Yeah, I've never had an A&W Burger, but they have their niche. They used to have two Bacon N' Eggers for $4.20, was a nice morning filler in emergencies.

fun fact... US and CAN A&W are completely separate corporations that have agreed to use the same name, but have no say over each other

There’s a Friendly’s in my town and I have no idea how they stay in business. There’s never more than 3 cars in the parking lot at a time and at least 2 have of them have to be employees. Been that way for years.

I can't believe I'm admitting to this but I would love to have Captain D's back...:(
I just remember stopping their on vacation road trips as a kid. We wanted something fast and also something we couldn't get in the Midwest. Sonic was another favorite for us back then too, but of course we all know they're doing pretty good.

Loved going to Friendly's as a kid .

Fudruckers had a pretty good burger

Anyone old enough to remeber when Jack in the Box almost went out of business 30ish years ago? They were having a massive sale on franchises, buy one get 3 free. I always found it so funny at the time. Recently talked to a guy who got in on that deal and now needs help counting all his money.

Steak n shake is good but the amount of grease on a burger is insane and makes me avoid going back.

Isn’t Friendlys more of an ice cream joint.

Steak N Shake is alive and doing well in my state.

A&W wasn't really a thing in my area until Long John Silvers was bought out by AWs parent company and they decided to sell A&W out of LJS. I've only eaten A&W once in my life

With the way things are going with Pizza Hut and KFC, they will be on the endangered list soon enough.

Pizza Hut rules!!! There’s none left in my city!!!! Which is odd considering it was always packed.

I havent lived near a Fuddruckers in like 12 years but when I last went to one I liked it a lot. Not really sure what makes it outdated.

Sadly it's gone down hill in the last 20 years or so, just like KFC. In fact I'd say most pizza chains are pretty terrible these days. Many of these big name pizza chains went from mixing fresh ingredients together, to bags of premixed ingredients, and now frozen dough disks, straight from the factory.

Pizza Hut pan pizza from the '90s was freaking amazing. That yeasty taste is forever gone now. I've seen a handful of Pizza huts close down and now are all weed shops

Lol sounds about right. Outside ice cream it was never a good place. Just a slow service restaurant with low quality food
When was the last time you went there?
