Finnegan's Wake

what is finnegan's wake? i was at the thrift store and i bought a t shirt that is for some frat event called "finnegan's funeral" clearly a play on this, so im just wondering where it comes from

Finnegan's wake is an Irish folk song. There's also a book by the same name.

The song is about a drunk who falls off a ladder and is mistaken for dead. When a fist fight breaks out at his funeral, he wakes up and the wake turns into a party of sorts.

finn, can you detail me about your magic lightbulbs that make you feel better?

i've been looking into seasonal something disorder (SAD) where folks lack sunlight at winter and have some negative effects. maybe some phytotherapy might help me. nothing serious on my end, just a little feeling that something is missing in my routine.

i'd like to hear your opinions.

Sure. First off, start taking a B complex if you aren't already. That'll help a bit. For lightbulbs, you'll need to get ones that are rated at least 800 lumens (candle power). Whatever room you are in the most is where they will be the most effective.
Sit in there for at least 20 minutes at a time, glancing at the lights occasionally. This will stimulate Serotonin production, treating SAD safely and effectively. A few 1500 lumen lightbulbs really do the trick. Just be sure to turn them off about 15 minutes before bedtime.

Yeah, basically. They are usually the "spiral" kind. They'll say something like Natural Sunlight or something, but it really doesn't matter as long as its over 800 lumens strong. You can get them pretty much anywhere.

thanks man. i get like 400 iu of vit d in my mv and i eat healthy but i have the bas rutten in pancrase tan. i'm whiter than this box i'm typing in right now and it's just because it's the summer. no pool, no beach, no homoerotic shirtless cardio on the football field behind my place.

i think i have a b complex in my multi too. my zma used to have it. today and yesterday and tomorrow are steak days though, so i'm covered. haha

Conditioning:

3 three minute rounds w/ one min. rest for stairs, 3 four minute rounds w/ one minute rest for sledge.

Rd 1: Stair sprints (skipping every other step up, jogging back down
Rd 2: Stair sprints (every step up and down)
Rd 3: Indoor Hill Climbers (bear crawling up steps as fast as possible, jogging back down)
Rd 4: Sledgehammer vs tire (10 lbs)
Rd 5: One arm Sledgehammer vs tire (16 lbs)
Rd 6: Sledgehammer vs tire (16 lbs, max power "tire-killing" swings)

Impressions:
I was def. on today. Barely felt a thing in the legs until the last round on the stairs, and the same w/ the sledging. My work capacity in the legs is def. much improved as of late. The one handed swings really work the grip. I like them. Didn't want to do too much more than this since MMA is in three hours, and there is always the poss. we'll do conditioning there as well.

Hm, haven't done sprinting in forever...

Did you do the stair sprints at home? I thought it'd be too cramped.

Yeah, I did them at home. Still a bit too much ice/ sludge outside to do any roadwork safely. The front steps are just big enough for me. I would die on the back steps, no doubt.

Are you doing the whole zero calorie drink thing for GGTSPN? I'm thinking about it, but milk is too good to pass up considering the benefits.

No, my shakes still have calories.

Impressions:
Well, talk about fucking random. During the Thai Clinch padwork drill, the guy I was holding the pads for wretched me around, and I somehow cut my toe on a ripped off toenail that was embedded on the very edge of the mats. What are the fucking chances of that?!?
Anyway, I sat out trying to stop the bleeding, cleaning it, bandaging, etc. I ended up bandaging it up, putting a rubber exam glove over my foot, and my socks on over that. It fucked up my whole night.
I got taken down a couple times I shouldn't have due to the socks, they threw off my rotational stability for kicks, etc. Basically, just really pissed me off.
Its not a horrible cut, and I'll be good to go for tomorrow, but the randomness of it was unreal.

In better news, I have an opponent. Don't know who it is yet, but I know where he trains. Seems my first opponent's entire fight team backed out, so now the replacement fighters are fighting on 4 weeks notice.
Excellent.

Odd week indeed. Chalk it up to a little blood sacrifice?

Awesome about your first opponent's team. So let me get this straight: your current opponent is not from the first team but rather with the replacement fighters?

Yeah. Local guy apparently, so I might be able to get some info on him before the fight.

Seems I've got an opponent. The first one dropped out, but it appears I've got a replacement. My amateur MMA debut, barring injury or other randomness, is scheduled for March .
Some of you have expressed interest in attending this event, so let me know who all to expect to drop by. I know a couple of you are already, but please PM me some contact info for directions.

Good luck Finny. Wear your church shirt out to the ring and get a tape!

Well of course shakes, but they dont count since they are meal replacements. I just was wondering if you're drinking milk with meals at all?

Also, nuskin = instant cure for the foot cut.
