MMA Class:
1 1/2 hours
Kickboxing:
3 minute rounds. Held the mits one round, then switched out, etc.
Rd 1: 1-2's Really focused on keeping my right elbow oinned to the side
Rd 3: same. 1-2's moving in and out of attack range/ circling
Rd 5: 1-2-3's, again focused on stance and movement.
Grappling:
Well Fight_Song, my instructor saw your comment on my sparring video and agreed:
Shrimping Drill: One person had to try and maintain side control while the other shrimped to regain gaurd.
3 2-minute rounds each position
Subimission work:
Review of armbars
-armbar from guard -drilled 20 times or so
-armbar from butterfly- drilled 20
-armbar from mount-drilled 20
-armbar from guard to other arm armbar-drilled 20
Review of Triangles
Triangle from gaurd, emphasis on shrimping sideways to cinch it in deeper.
Triangle from gaurd during attempted gaurd pass:
-drilled each for about 10 minutes straight.
Guard Passing:
-sit back, push down on hips, scoop and dump soi you land in side control, There has to be a shorter name for it than that. Did this 10-15 times. Worked w/ a new guy on this a lot.
-Elboe in the knee, pin the leg to the ground, step over.
Did this about 30 times.
Done.
Impressions:
Finally! The new guy who came to class tonight is 218 lbs. Hopefully, I'll have a sparring partner that is actually around my current weight. We are set to spar tomorrow. He's a bit of a wild striker, but he won't be doing any drunken monkey rolls.
Technical stuff: For some reason, I just can't seem to get the armbar from mount to work right. I leave way, way too much space for them to escape out the back when I begin to fall to the side.
