Finnegan's Wake

February Conditioning Challenge:
Deadlift Density (Bodyweight as the weight, 5 minute time limit)

Deadlift:
230 x 65

Impressions:
Since we can't bounce the weight, I sped it up my lowering it faster, pausing with it on the ground, and going back up to lock out. Def. can do more than this. Probably 75 or so.

finnegan,
what size tire do you bang on?

I got lost looking back thru 60 pages :P

Morning Conditioning:

Tabata Intervals:
3 three minute rounds w/ one minute rest, 20w/ 10r

Rd 1: Sprint in place jumprope
Rd 2: Heavybag punches (1-2s)
Rd 3: sledgehammer (10 lbs)

Impressions:
Not too bad this morning. Helped loosen up my back, which was a little sore from yesterday's deadlift challenge.

Cool. Brief but intense looking. What do you average for the swings/round?

Also, you ever take a day off man? Jebus!

19-21 swings for every work period\ with the 10 lbs sledge. I would do one side one round and the other the next. Its slightly less with the 16 lber, about 18 or so on Tabatas.
And yeah, I take days off occasionally, usually every 5th or 6th day I take off or just do skill work.

Finny, I saw ya said you may be fightin' march 8th. That gonna be there around L-ville or where at?

It'll be near Louisville, but across the river in Indiana (New Albany, to be exact) if they can find an opponent for me. I'll be sure to let them know that I can fight in a catch weight situation if necessary (Catch weight 225 would be awesome...)
It'll be 3 three minute rounds, UFC rules, in a ring.
Jack: No, I've not been to Ali's old gym. I'm not originally from here. There is a suprising lack of boxing in the area. I never hear about upcoming local fights, never run into boxers at MMA, etc. I'm practically begging for a boxing instructor to start teaching at my gym.

14,950lbs moved in 300 seconds.
Nice. Real Nice.

I was thinking of making a volume weight moved deadlift challenge, do whatever weight you tihnk would lead to the most total weight moved in 5 mins

Hmm. That could be fun. 315 would be a good weight for me for that challenge.

If it was in L-ville or somewhere south of there along 65 in KY, I'da tried to come see it. If I can work it out to come up there, would you wanna train together for a bit some Saturday or Sunday, since we couldn't coordinate schedules at Christmas? Just shoot me a PM.

New Albany is literally like 10 minutes away on the other side of the river. Yeah, a good Sat. training session works for me. We'll figure something out.

John, once you get to Louisville it's less than 10 minutes to Finny's lair.

Let me know the specifics on the fight when you get them. I'll be there.
