Finnegan's Wake

Gear Purchased:
Foam Roller
Headgear

Impressions:
It feels like I'm trying to bust up gravel in my quads with the foam roller. Its going to take quite a bit to get the knots out.
The headgear was on sale at Dick's. Everlast cheapy headgear w/ cheek protection. They had some Everlast "MMA" gloves as well, which were the most uncomfortable things I've worn yet. Worse than Century by far. When it comes time to purchase fight gloves, I'll go w/ a reputable company (or whatever the org. requires). That being said, does anyone know if any decent companies offer XXL gloves?

Approx. 11 centimeters across at the widest part of the palm, 10 centimeters from wrist to knuckle with a closed fist, 20.5 centimeters from wrist to middle fingertip open, 9 centimeters across the knuckles closed fist.

Looks at my own small girlie hands and start crying...;)

But you have problem fitting into normal size boxing gloves or are it just for mma gloves?

MMA gloves, and anything less than 14 oz boxing gloves is a pain. Usually, the "one size fits all" gloves work, but its tight around the thumb, sometimes very uncomfortably. I've got a pair of XXL Century MMA bag gloves that fit great with handwraps, but I've yet to find anything in XL that I think would work.
I know they have to be out there with the Semmy Schilts and Bob Sapps of the world. Just need to find them.

Hmm that kind of sucks, altough it must be great to have two mauls for hands.

I fucking fucking love my twins special 14 ouz all around boxing gloves. Have served me well for 2 years and couldnt consider another brand.

I got out the measuring tape last night. 9 1/2 inches around the knuckles. Damn.

You freak. My hands are 8 inches around the knuckle.

Warrior Challenge / Density Day

Challenge:
See how many 100 sledge hammer swings/ 100 rope turn circuits I could do in 20 minutes.

Results: 394 Sledge swings, 400 rope turns. Fleshed it out to 400 swings. I alternated doing 100 rope turns with 100 swings. I switched hands a different times during the swings (every 30, every 20, every 25, etc) or whenever needed. The only rest I got was to walk to the chalkboard to tally up each 100 and to take a drink of water between hundreds.
Next time, I'm going for 500 each. My density will improve as my jump rope skill improves. I lost a lot of time just untangling myself from the rope. I need to work on the sprint in place type of jumping instead of jumping with both feet at the same time.

I'm in ur log, slerrin mah speeches.

And there I was....thinking to my self, "Self....maybe Samuel Adams isn't just for beer snobs.... And maybe you've come to this realization waaaaay too late in life.....and maybe the reason you've come to this conclusion is because you're fuckin plowed....but maybe.....JUST MAYBE....it's because Samuel Adams makes a damned good dark lager. BUT, you're too drunk to make that call. NO SIR! THAT, my friend-called-me, is an important matter. You should have one for breakfast. Any beer that tastes good for breakfast is a damn good beer.....yeah that's it.....what? Dude, I know, it's not even Christmas! Buttfuck the easter bunny and call me Sally, but I ain't sleepin with bacon. Homeboy farts in his wake, let alone his sleep.

"

I'll give some Sam Adams dark lager a try. *reads back over bacon's post* On second thought, maybe I won't...
I tried drinking Saturday night. It seems like my body is rejecting the alcohol now. I felt like total shit all day Sunday, and I've never had hangovers before. (was drinking Vodka).

We're out of beer, so now lager breakfast for me. I'm pretty sure it kicked ass, though. I think after next weekend's trip to MO, I'm going to dry out for awhile.

Sprints:

800 meters x 2 (2 minute rest between sprints)
600 meters x 1 (2 minute rest)
400 meters x 1 ( 1 minute rest
50 meters x 4 (30 seconds rest between sprints)

Impressions:
The stair sprints helped a lot since the last time I did these. The comparative leg discomfort was not nearly as bad as 15 times up and down a flight a stairs. I kept a slow run for most of the 800, increased to a good run at the 650 mark, and balls out for the last 100.
Definitely pleased with this one. Thanks again Ross and BA.
Finished up the night remaking my new sandbag to be 150 lbs and much sturdier than before. I took out about 20 lbs of wet sand and saved it, as I'll have to adjust the sandbag later as the internal sand drys. Also brought my medicine ball back to 25 lbs and round.

Impressions: So, that took about 3 1/2 hours. Got my bottle of RPM today. It stacks well w/ Beta Alanine. Check out my D&S log for the full description.
Worked on bench assistance tonight and some complexes. The floor press was done by using a cooler and a cinder block to elevate the bar to my sticking point. We'll see how this works out.

Oh yeah...Good foam roller....I love my foam roller....so nice.

MMA:

Heavybag:
Focused on circling right, speed on the jabs, power on the crosses and hooks. Done w/ MMA gloves. I kept a decent pace, but worked more on technique than anything else.

100 1's

100 2's

50 1-2's

25 1-2-3's

25 1-1-2's

25 1-2-1-2's

End.

Impressions:
Good workout. Glad I've got a rest day tomorrow. Punches felt really strong and fast tonight. I wrapped my hands with less wrist support and more knuckle support tonight. My MMA gloves have an attached wrist wrap, so I put the padding where it was needed as I wasn't using the 16 oz. boxing gloves.
Split jumps are a breeze compared to burpees.
I strongly suggest all sledgehammer enthusiasts to cut down the handle on one to a 1 inch-per-lbs ratio on one of your sledges. The added dimension of being unilateral and having to go down that much farther really adds to a sledge routine.

Glad to see you're logging in the punches really trying to make a difference. Make a tape of yourself (i'd be excited to see it) or make sure you have somebody else watch you at some point. I have a serious learned problem of dropping my right straight that nobody ever told me about until recently when I actually had somebody decent hold mitts for me.

Also, something I've been working on lately is 'jabbing out.' So after you finish a combo, throw 2 jabs out to create some distance.

Be careful about going for power with the MMA gloves on. I bet you hit like a truck which might do some damage to your hands.

Last, how do you come up with all those crazy circuit variations? I take enough time just trying to come up with one of my own nevermind alternating things every round.
