Fighting Games Discussion

I just now bought Street Fighter 6. I love how I can buy the "Ultimate" edition and 2 characters are still locked. Capcom and fighting games these days...

That said, the character select theme might be the best select screen in history outside of Killer Instinct.
 
Whats the latest on the SF6 tier list? I've been out of the game for a while.

Gief is a cancer, his bad match ups are Sim, Lily, JP, and Ed, and while there are a ton of Ed players, that's the only character he'll see later in the brackets.

Ryu and Terry are good but their tools arent up to snuff to carry them up like others. They have okay corner carry, but their conversions off of cr. DR scale terribly.

Terry's big issue though, is he has the longest cr.mk in the game, so most players just try to abuse it, but its easily whiff punished.

Would you say Gief is a mix of damage and overall mechanics or does he has some nasty SPD oki?

What's kind of funny now that I'm looking at the list is that Akuma, Rashid, Cammy, Ken and sometimes Bison were all top tier in 5. The major difference would be Bison moving down and Guile moving up but I believe Bison was strong in either S2 or S3. Ken and Cammy somewhat fluctuated but were Top Tier more than once. Ryu had a single season lol.

Zangief's oki on a block f.hp is just stupid. He either kills your drive gauge or kills your health bar. If you have an invincible reversal he's taking 60% free.He has really strong pokes and doesn't lose neutral. He doesnt get a lot off of his SPD oki at all. Basically you don't want to interact with him in the neutral, and if you give up ground you give up oki to him. Even if he gets you with like crmp into DR you're playing a guessing game that you're more than likely going to lose.

Other character can also take your life, but it just feels more honest outside of Ed's jab/qcb p pressure and Rashjid's lvl 2. Those things are even worse than Bison's converting to EX bomb into 50/50 guaranteed corner or lvl 2 instant death.

It takes a special game for me to buy it before its 'complete.' I usually wait for 'gold editions' to be out with all the DLC + Expansions.

Relating to MK specifically, the last one I've bought was MKX. Great cast, great story, and great asthetic & feel to the game.

MK11 & MK1.... something feels off with them.

Don't know if they plan to do another MK or come out with a third Justice game. I get the feeling a MK game with ALL of the guest characters they've had since MK9 would be awesome.

The game was a rushed mess and of course Ghostface is banned from tournaments because of infinite combos and unblockable resets.

I LOVE Rufus

He was at least a pocket character for me during the entirety of SF4. There is actual tournament footage of the first time I ever picked him. I had no idea about his inputs or anything.
 


This fight is just bonkers. Mena's Blanka is just crazy good, but Booce had his number on this one.
 


Punk reminds me of prime Marshawn Lynch.
