Fighting Games Discussion

Don't think there were any big names this time, Kuroda famously wiped out a very strong US team a few years ago almost single handed with Q.

Interesting event in terms of who looked the more impressive, its been years since a regular coop cup with individual FT10 matches between the established big names happening instead during covid and there does seem to have been a bit of a shift.

Two of the most impressive guys were Michael and Shinta who are "young" being SF4 generation players, Shinta's Ken very nearly knocked out the winning team 3rd Monster in the QF's and then Michael from that team was dominant in the finale beating Nuki's Chun.

Maybe reaction time of somewhat younger players a factor? Michael especially I think the hit confirms against Nuki were really the difference. Perhaps the aging big names is part of the reason the 3rd strike meta has shifted a bit since the evo 37 era being a bit less dominated by hit confirms

Not sure how I feel about assist combat for MK, but I guess anything will be better than the stale MK11 gameplay. Hopefully less Fatal Blow style mechanics and more character freedom and variety.

Hard to get any work done with this SF6 beta active lol.

Not sure that I love this gimmick either, but ya MK11 felt like a mobile fighting game. Looked amazing but wasn't very fun to play. I had more enjoyment collecting items in the crypt.

YES. MY MAIN IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER

I am so excited for Tekken 8! The character trailers look cool, but all I have heard from play testers is that the trailers don't do justice how fun the game really is. I'm going to have to take a week off of work when it comes out haha, been playing Tekken 7 and some of my past favorite installments on emulators a lot recently.

Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but is $70 the standard price for new games now? I think the last AAA game I bought new was Elden Ring and I am pretty sure that was $60.
Just remember, some games were 90$ in the 90’s

Seriously?? I was born in '98, so that was a bit before my time. I can't imagine paying $90 for a game and not getting some sort of special metal case, figurine, or something that came along with it. I absolutely love video games and appreciate the work that goes into them, but I start hesitating at $70; can't imagine trying to justify $90 to myself for one (especially with the value of the dollar in the '90s).

He's not kidding. Virtua Racing and Phantasy Star IV were $100 when they were released.
