Fighting Games Discussion

Which SF was your personal fav?
3rd strike, then 4,then sfxt, then ST (mostly trash)then 5. Sf3 and 2nd impact are not good games but 3rd strike somehow made it all work. The alpha series is mostly trash, there are some cool elements and the rosters are cool, but air block is kinda shit and the games have a plethora of balance issues like ST.

my favorite fighting games outside of SF is Garou motw, CvS2, Rival schools, and dark stalkers 3.

I’d say im mediocre as DS, nobody actually plays that game lol

I enjoy GG before strive.

ST is my favorite, though I also enjoy HF. I'd like Alpha more, but I wasn't too crazy about CCs.

Vampire has quite a few players on fightcade iirc.

I hate how people are now saying that MvsC2 is finally freed.

Was wondering what was going on then saw this tweet

why can’t they release on pc and consoles?? I sucked at the game but enjoyed playing it on 360 vs other friends that sucked

I think it has all of the Marvel fighting games but they also included the Capcom SNES titles for some reason.

Just have to stick with emulation or a Dreamcast copy.

There's been rumblings that they've been looking into it, would love a Marvel/Capcom collection

O. Yashiro seems to do good meterless damage, but with meter he's nothing to write home about. Maybe best to have him on point. Clark and Shermie look like better grapplers.

Got back in guilty gear. Played with the new character a lot . Need to work on Potemkin A LOT more if I want to be able to use him

I played the original SF2 and Turbo/Championship Edition back in the day a lot but I always kind of felt like Capcom was just grafting stuff ontop the same mechanic with all the updates and the alpha series, what worked well for the simpler original game started to feel a bit unnatural to me and not as much fun to play.

I felt SNK actually taking more of the lead in the mid 90's and SF3 was really Capcoms attempt to rebuild Street Fighter from the ground up more even if it took them several tries to really nail it, the original game espeically felt like it was rushed out for me with 2nd impact seemingly more like what was intended and that third strike improved on that and gave it better presentation.

This thread has actually got me watching some more recent Third Strike competitive stuff on Youtube and I'm really impressed, all the years in-between its become an even better game to watch with less issue like Chun Li always winning matches only via poking and one super art.

3rd strike is the best fighting game ever made if you’re equal skill level, it’s completely unforgiving otherwise lol, and yeah competitive 3rd strike keeps getting better and better and the meta is fantastic because it’s been so refined over years. I wish more people in the USA played. They did that tournament gimmick but most people were still trash even if you had an incentive to get better.

Honestly I was never near the elite level at it but watching these videoes does make me want to get back into playing it, there is just a wonderful flow to the game.

Watching modern elite stuff honestly to me it seems like the balance of the game has actually improved, people seem much more able to deal with Chun's pokes now to the degree she isnt played as much like Justin Wong used to which I think turned a lot of people off. I spose because other characters punishing ability has ended up devolped more with time.

Honestly though big gaming prize events are IMHO mostly about marketing current games.

I wish there was a tournament like Evo that featured the WOAT fighting games. Rise of the Robots, Shaq Fu, Street Fighter Movie, Time Killers, Masters of Teras Kasi, DB GT Final Bout.

It just depends on who’s playing. Deshiken is a super fun Ken to watch, matsuken is pretty fundamental but a great study on how to win with pure fundamentals. For chun it can be a bit harder because Nuki is a hit confirming god and will win by doing nothing where MOV is aggressive and systemically breaks down players over sets. Those are just a couple example out of all the dudes who play 3rd strike. So many good players.

I feel like Chun's super #2 maybe stood out a bit more in the past than it does now though, its still very effective of course but it seems like you have players who can set up really big damage combos/supers more often now.

Although, Chun, Ken, and Yun are the best you see a lot more variety now than was shown in the past. Cooperation Cup is always hype and Pierrot's run with Remy was ridiculous.
