So for Mortal Kombat's 30th anniversary, the fans get the latest game and a shitty movie? Very underwhelming.

That movie sucks shit. Give me Shaolin Monks HD!
Well trying out 3rd strike for the first time again good and bad, the good is that imput wise I'v found the stick(Mayflash F500 elite) much easier to take to than I expected, was thinking I'd be spending a week or two just being able to pull off a DP but I'v got it pretty well off the bat and as I hoped 360's like Hugo's moonsault are far easier than I remember on a controler.
Bad news is I'm fucking terrible at the game otherwise lol, partly I suspect that its not just a lack of fighting games but a lack of any kind of skilled input gaming for over a decade now. I'm guessing its going to be several weeks before I dare show by face on the net.
TBF, there's players on Fightcade who aren't that good either. Some are just playing for fun.
Opinions on square vs octagonal gates? pretty sure in UK arcades we had the latter and I do find I'm riding against the gate quite a lot so might change it over from the square the stick came with.
I prefer the square, but I used to really like the old circle ones from years ago such as the MAS sticks.
I'm finding the octagon a little easier as it provides something to judge up/down/left/right against but I spose long term the objective is to not be riding up against the gate very much? looking at some videos on the hands of Japanese players usign square gates they seem to keep to very small movements.
Not really desided yet which character/s to try and put more work into getting decent at, I remember back in the day I probably played Ryu more than anyone, mostly because hitting the EX donkey kick(the stick definitely makes that easier than I remember on a pad) on people was so satisfying.
I used Ryu for his Denjin setups. Fun stuff.
it does seem like a character were you can advance without having godlike hit confirms which is a bit less intimidating.
I went Korean with no gate. Basically your gate is levers attached to the switches, with a rubber grommet to give it tension. Good for Tekken, probably not great for 2d games though.Opinions on square vs octagonal gates? pretty sure in UK arcades we had the latter and I do find I'm riding against the gate quite a lot so might change it over from the square the stick came with.
