Fighting Games Discussion

I liked the trailer, hard to tell on the gameplay. One this is for sure, it looked much slower than SF5 in terms of strikes. Damnd from FF was snuck in there and are they hinting at a 2v2 mode? Look closely and you can see a few new mechanics.

Also, kind of a weird arcade mode. Create a fighter?

It seems slower, but like you said it's hard to tell, but it's so early. Damnd as a playable character would be interesting. So far, IMO, Capcom has done a great job with playable Final Fight characters and I'm sure Damnd would be fun too.

A create a fighter would be kind of cool. Older fighting games had a lot of fun stuff you could do beside just the fighting so I'm all for it. Obviously, not in a ranked match.

Ya, theres probably still a lot of refinement to go. Thanks for posting the link, I hadn’t seen that yet. I knew there were two “drive” moves at first but now I realize they’re all available at the same time. They’re going to charge you 1 drive slot for a forward dash lol. At the start it seems fairly barebones and I would need to look at SFV’s launch mechanics to compare the V-System to the 5-Drive system. I wonder what else is under the hood if anything. Maybe a turbo mode?

Good call on Damnd, could be a world boss. I wonder if they’ll allow the create-a-fighter online mode. That would be pretty dope, imo.

Personally, I’m not following their “Fighting Ground” innovation they’re praising. It’s basically a ported V into a new engine.

Looks like sfv with revised graphics and more hit stop. Looks like dog shit and I hope capcom goes out of business

9 mill for Tekken 7 is great. Tekken 3 did 8 mill and that game was massive for the PSX. Granted, T7 was out for a longer period of time with DLC and all that shit.

Hopefully this gives them confidence to go all in on Tekken 8.
Tekken vs street fighter yo.

Good stuff. Making the mechanics universal is a great thing Imo. SFV suffered from a difficult to balance V-System. Some were so good that it auto pushed characters to a higher tier. With this, it seems to be moving to an easier to balance footsie game.

Now, this could all take a shit if certain drives start allowing 1 characters offense to out shine another. For instance, in this clip, Ryu whiff punishes a Chun normal with a Drive ability. Will others function in the same way, the same frames, distance etc? Hard to tell. It could be pretty diverse, but even so, it’ll be so much easier to balance than the V-System.

Another takeaway I like from this gif is the half screen punish on the normal. It’s like Capcom watched so many critical art punches they decided to add it in for everyone as a regular move. I dig it.

I’m starting to get hyped the more I think about it. On a side note, there were fun times beating OP characters in SFV. Let’s you know you outplayed them.

Heh, we'll see.

Bamco did a great job with Akuma and Geese, so sure. I'd like to see what else they could do with Rage Drives (Don't care about Rage Arts).
