Fighting Games Discussion

A lot them tend to jump over me for a cross-up than straight up so I have to try to react to it.

I looked up your cfn to see your gief gameplay but couldn't find any matches, if you can improve in other areas it could help you level up with him. play a few matches with him (preferably a set against an evenish match up) whenever you can and I'll look you up.

He has an evenish matchup? What a mirror match?

I've been messing around with other characters since playing Gief gets me titled, lol. Still love the big goof, but it's frustrating! Maybe Snake Eyez believed that going to Evo was a waste of time.

He's weak but when you have momentum with him he can be almost unstoppable, I've never had as many double perfects like I had with him. is it confirmed Snake Eyez is not going to evo? I heard something on stream that made me think he's not going but I wasn't sure.

I would say Ryu feels like an evenish match up and Cammy.

I just played a bunch of matches with him. One of my problems is that I don't use big combos when punishing with Gief. I just go for raw SPD most of the time. There were a few times when I went for his Level 2 when I shouldn't have, though a couple of times it came out without me even trying to do it lol.

So I took a quick look , there is a definite lack of optimization for the combos and some other things that could help you a lot imo

1-When you got a jump in hit you didn't follow up with anything.. instead go for a simple hit into ex lariat and follow up with the forward medium kick he will be in range for grab even if opponent rolls back.
Or if it's end game go for DR combos.

2- best counter punish combos is hk into ex air grab, damage is very high and leaves more room for oki.

3- when you get perfect Parry NEVER punish with spd go for the normal grabs (the ones that drop the opponent close to you) or sweep that will leave the opponent close and unable to roll back since it's punish counter. It's a great chance at oki.

4- this is maybe a bit harder to work on but you rely on the jump in for offence too much instead you should walk your opponent down with normals and try and whiff punish with standing lk into Dr combo or sweep. When opponent is engaged in footsie battle with you than the jump is easier but anyway you will need it less.

There is some other things but if you add these for sure it will be much easier for you.

Thanks for the tips, man. I'll work on this.

What do you think about the new master rank system. I like it, it's really tough to progress. I'm yo-yoing from 1550s to base line of 1500 or 1480s

I like it a lot actually. It makes much more sense. You win against much higher MR points? More points. You lose against much lower MR? Big loss in points. Around the same? Closer points.

This is probably how it should have been all along tbh. At least in Master Rank.
