I am sure you have a problem as well with all the players in the France team with immigrants background, who also have the right to play for that team if they want to.

"Immigrant background" isn't the same thing as "naturalized."

England, France, Netherlands have a bunch of black and Arab dudes but they all (with a couple of exceptions) were born, raised, and developed as players in Europe.

The Moroccans were also born and raised in various European countries so they had to get naturalized to play for Morocco. It really cuts into the whole "underdog" story, IMO. Not fully underdogs if their best players lived their whole lives in rich European countries, are they?

I don't watch soccer but that missed kick is making the rounds on all of the news sources. How does a professional player miss the goal completely on a penalty kick? I've seen compilations of kicks that missed the net completely on wide open opportunities.

High pressure situation

It does undermine the concept imo. The country isnt producing these players.

In Australia we have a State of Origin game (NSW v QLD) which is a huge deal. Based on where your formative years took place - high school or early club. It wouldnt mean anything if they were just looking to play for either state and were allowed to choose based on where their parents grew up.

And I say this as a dual citizen, so it's not like I dont have sympathy.

So just learned that daft ear mocking thing Messi did was in honor of fellow countryman Riquelme because Van Gaal didn't rate him and had the audacity to drop him from Barcelona.

What a dumb thing to hold a grudge over, especially since Riquelme proved Van Gaal was right anyways by going on to achieve nothing after Van Gaal left and went scurrying back to some minnow club team in Argentina because he couldn't hack it in Europe.

But yeah its all Van Gaal's fault he didn't live up to the hype.

He did pretty good with Villareal, which isnt a minnow. Van Gaal publicly called him a "political" signing. So, he was pretty disrespectful to the guy, let alone whatever he said/did in training and around the club.

Yes, basically the ones that can play
Now get back to stuffing your anus full of chiles!
LOL Busgosu dont argue with this guy, he is either a troll or a person with mental problems ,in both cases better leave the poor guy alone, or support him the guy has problems, he needs some friends LOL

It was a drop-down from Barcalona and Villarreal also got rid of him after a few seasons and he went scurrying back to Argentina whilst still in his twenties.

It was a failure of a career given the initial hype there was around him. Van Gaal's assessment was right, he was a nice player to watch but way too lazy to fulfill his potential and not someone you can rely on longterm.

He was a better player than you let on and highly respected in Argentina. Which would play into why Messi would think of him and I doubt Messi brought it up because of merely not rating him or playing him out of position. He seemed to be motivated by the disrespect factor

So we're all African?

I think you're confusing ancestry/ethnicity/race with Nationality.
