Rumored Ferguson hinting at upcoming fight

I think UFC should of offered him a real title fight after Pettis, and not done a Poirer/Holloway interim bout instead.

I agree that he deserves a title shot based on his wins but if he took the Poirier fight and beat Dustin, he'd be fighting Khabib next. Instead he fought Pettis which really did nothing for his standing.

Totally.

So because he had a freak injury and then didn't want to have win back his interim belt that he never lost, it's completely on him for not realizing he needed to win his TWELFTH fucking fight in a row (most of his wins being finishes) to get a shot at the actual title.

Oh, and all of the past stuff aside, now us fans of the sport should just look backward and blame him instead of looking forward and saying "Well, shit happened in the past. But now we have a title fight next month and a guy with a 12 fight win streak ready to either step in if needed, or fight the winner at the end of the year (or early next year at the latest). But nah, let's make him win his 13th in a row so we know he TRULY deserves it."

What a joke.

He and Khabib were booked 4 times. Each are at fault (for whatever reason) twice for the fight not occuring.

He was offered a fight with Dustin for the interim title because Khabib was suspended due to the Conor fight melee. He turned it down. Instead he went and had a pointless fight with Pettis.

If he had fought and beat Dustin (which he probably would have), he'd currently be the interim champ and dialed up to fight Khabib next.

He CHOSE not to fight Dustin. There were no freak accidents there. He CHOSE a low risk fight against a guy that was basically unranked at 155 rather than fight for an interim title and a guaranteed shot.

Spin it any way you want but Tony's choices have not been the best.

He fought pettis on the same card as khabib vs conor lol,

He fought cowboy who was ranked number 4 at the time after the max vs dustin match

There's always another fight placed in front of him though is my problem. But I mean regardless, it is what it is. I imagine he'll lose one day and get a title shot soon after just cause that's the way this often works.

Right. I mean it seemed so obvious that Ferguson would fight the Khabib/Conor winner that night, but nope.

Uhh...what? You must be really confused.

Tony fought Pettis on the same night as Khabib/Conor. Tony was offered later a fight with Max, not Dustin. Tony had legal stuff he was dealing with during that time and wasn't able to accept the fight. About a month later (when his personal stuff had been sorted out) he accepted a fight with Cowboy (which is a high profile opponent who was ranked top 5 at the time, coming off beating down another top 5 guy in Iaquinta).

In addition, there are no "guaranteed" title shots, even for interim champs. Colby won the interim belt and got bypassed. The UFC can do whatever they want.

But let's examine the situation as it stands NOW, not stuff from a year ago that doesn't even matter. What possible reason is there to not just outright say that Tony will fight the winner of Khabib/Dustin? Everyone knows he needs to be next. So stop pretending like the guy needs to do anything but wait for that fight to happen and then start training to fight the winner.

He doesn't need to do anything and yes I forgot the timeline. Old age happens :)

But he should have fought Dustin and this would all be moot. He'd probably be the interim champ right now and lined up to face Khabib.

The crazy thing is he would have been heavily favored against Poirier.

Dude, he was never offered Dustin. He was offered Max.

But then Dana was brought up to speed on Tony's personal stuff and even said that Tony wasn't able to accept the fight with all that stuff going on.

My point is that unless someone has a time machine it's dumb to focus on all that stuff in the past. Khabib/Dustin winner vs Tony and there will be NOBODY complaining at all, right?

So crazy that Tony was even asked to win the Interim Title TWICE, just to get a shot at the real title. Also you're missing the details. Tony was not offered Dustin.

I bet he's just training and prepping as if he's going to be a substitute if Khabib or Dustin can't fight.

Tony deserves a title shot.
Conor is only going to fight for big money and i don’t think a fight with Tony can bring that
Conor is the big money, his opponent is irrelevant.

Prediction: Khabib or Dustin have been injured and Tony has been offered to save the day
