Fedor Was Only 33yrs old When He lost to Werdum

Its not a training or competing thing, its a common sense thing.

DC being champ at like 37 shuts down any stupid argument like this for me. Its the perfect example of an older fighter with minimal mileage for me.

DC has wrestling mileage. He wasn’t getting punched in the face by larger men for decades prior to starting MMA.

hardcore mma fans acting like the guy was 60yrs old and past his prime when he lost to werdum guy was barely hittin a HWs prime hell stipe was 1 year older when he won the title no doubt fedor was the 1 p4p hw during his pride run but in retrospect the guy barely cracks the top 5.

He was past his prime at that point already. The guy had some serious wars before, and even before when he knocked out that can Brett Rogers I still thought he looked declined.

In his prime I think he was easily the best HW ever. Some of the best fight instincts and fantastic technique. Was an amazing fighter

In retrospect? In retrospect this man's legacy grows by the day. A nearly 10 year undefeaten record in HW in major organisations is bizarre. And his reaction to his loss v Werdum make him a true martial artist;

Those who do not fall, don't have to get back up. People made me an idol, but I am just a man.

In my opinion, Fedor is the only GOAT

of course every fighters reach their prime at a different age, but still crazy how many of those pride legends conveniently started declining right at the time they fought in the UFC or strikeforce...

There's some truth on both sides of this discussion

Yes Fedor had some serious mileage at the time, but it wasn't the reason he lost the fight.

The reason Fedor lost that fight was because he slowly became more and more undisciplined and sloppy over the years until he ran into the wrong guy. That was a winnable fight for Fedor, and he lost because he made a critical mistake.

I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with my comment.

Yes he did have wrestling mileage but thats only a portion of what other fighters have mileage wise.

dude if u just watch him during his physical prime (pride days) and then how his body and face changed so much at that point of the werdum fight, u realize the man is not in his prime and well is normal isn it?

most overrated fighter ever, mostly because people feel nostalgic about him and pride days

Cain yes due to injuries.

How did DC and Cain have a load of fight mileage on them? They didn't even start training MMA until their 30s.

Both were pretty high level wrestlers, so that likely put a lot of miles on. Cain's were likely self-inflicted; apparently, the guy didn't know how to train without hurting himself.

he obviously had the ability to look different.

this is how he looked well after losing to werdum.

"prime" isn't just about what your body looks like.

Cormiers injuries from wrestling in high school and college are scattered online combine that with kidney failure(which takes it's toll regardless) starting a new sport at 30 (as did brock) we never saw the best possible version of them.

Ah, this old nonsense spread by dumbass new fans:

UFC HW Champs:
Rizzo: Never had a top win after 2005/06. Done by age 33.
Ricco: Done fighting at top level in 2003. Hung on for a few years losing to anyone relevant. Totally done by age ~33.
Mir: Last time he was at all relevant and had top wins was in 2012. 33 years of age.
Randleman: Last top win at age 32.
Arlovski: Left the UFC and got brutally "exposed". Done as a top guy by 2011 at age ~31.
Sylvia: Done as a top guy after 2008, at age 32.
Bork: Last win at age 33.
JDS: Basically done as a top guy by age 31, in 2015. Clearly washed by 2017, at age 33. Hobbled on vs mostly irrelevant guys after.
Cain: Done after 2013, at age 31. Hardly fought after period.

Wow, look @ all these UFC champs who somehow either washed out, started "sucking", or clearly were past it in their early 30s!

People cry that Tysons prime was over at 23

Based on what? Thats literally the point. He could have started in his 20s and by early 30s he could he getting KOd due to an extra decade of being punched in the face.

TS said Fedor couldn't be out his prime because he was only 33, from what we saw DCs prime in the sport was late 30s so it debunks the argument.

My point was that age and mileage arent comparable in MMA that was all.

yeah u right he still looked solid af at that point lol im just saying he appeared to be faster stronger and overall more athletic during pride days, but yeah i see ur point bro

Fedor stopped caring at that point, he said early on he only cared about providing money for his family, he had done that. You can see by looking at him he was out of shape.

He had already fought 33 times in a decade retard. Fight mileage matters more than fight age

Jose Aldo was also 33 when he fought Yan good luck trying to convince anyone that was prime Aldo

Fedor was already noticeably slowing down per his trainers and he also lost in Sambo for the first time a little while before the Werdum fight. He was just a headhunting brawler by that point who neglected his grappling

Most of his fights were one sided ass beatings though. The worst thing he really had happen to him were broken hands. Fedor was also getting lazy with his training. I think if he would have moved to the states, joined a top MMA gym, and hired a Strength and Conditioning coach he could have stayed at the top a bit longer. His style also works better in a cage than in a ring.
