Fedor Throwback

He admitted to losing some motivation and couldn't stop thinking about the fight. His training likely never got back to that level again and he was just going through the motions for a while.
He said he had been suicidal about it. Played Russian Roulette.

I mean lets face it,we do get spoiled discussing some fighters like Fedor and Khabib or Anderson or whoever, guys that had very long winning streaks. Arlovski was never one of those guys, but you could see marked improvement in him as time went on. He got leaner, and quicker, and his boxing got better under freddie roach. That time at the end of the first when he had finally found his range and was effectivley countering Fedor,is something we rarely ever saw. I think only Mirko ever approached that.

and this loss started a slump for Arlovski. Having to constantly climb back to the top slowly is extremely demoralizing. I bet he is enjoying his career more now.

I agree. I thought he was going to actually beat Fedor while watching it live until he went face plant naptime.

Still wouldn't say he was at his best. He's only had one other streak that was worse in his career.

We will just have to agree to disagree. If i wanted prime arlovski, thats the one i'd go with.

See above son. Andrei's own words. He was at his best when he fought Fedor.

Every fighter is always at his best for every fight. Unless they're Brazilian and are talking about it afterwards. Or the 70%-ers.

Makes me wonder what other heavyweight sambo practicioners are like.

Obviously not the best version we've seen, Tommy.
when that ko happened,it was so fast i didnt see it. I just saw arlovski getting closer and closer and all of a sudden he was facedown in the opposite direction he was in.All i knew was Fedor had won and I almost ran into the tv,yelling.

But i didnt know what had happenred. "Did he shoot him1?!?"

wasmt till the replay. that i knew how.

What an unforgettable night.

It was fuckin crazy, for sure. Still don't know what in the holy fuck Andrei was thinking by jumping straight up into the air. He was puttin it on the chubby bastard.

he had done the same to Rothwell. He shoulda known that this aint a run of the mill dude he is in there with. It kind of dogged his career in a way because he got clipped by Tim Sylvia for similar reasons. He got overexcited and dropped discipline.

If you are blind, sure.

Literally just watched it again after my last post. Arlovski was puttin it on him. Many combos. The fuckin teep before the jump for joy was beautiful. Dumb ass move.

I don't recall him jumping straight up in the air vs Rothwell.

he hit him with a flying knee in the finishing sequence

Look, when this mf'er was motivated, you was gettin' your ass kicked. And you know, if Henderson, Werdum, Bigfoot, Meathead and Bader would have fought him in Pride, they would have gotten their asses beat too.

He pulled the head down. He didn't just randomly jump straight up into the air.....and transition to power nap.

Buddy, Dan weighed in at 207 lbs, that is documented, that is weighing it at HW. Even if he weighed at 205, that's LHW. But fight weight means nothing, are we gonna start saying that every fighter out there is fighting out of his weight class cause they walk in at a different weight?? You're argument makes no sense.
Its not an argument. Its simply facts
Dan was 205lbs the night of the fight. This is the weight that MW's step into the cage at, hell some MWs like Costa are 213lbs on fight night.
Dan was 40 years old

Both of these are facts, not argument.
