Fedor Emelianenko could go down in history as one of the greatest heavyweight mixed martial artists to ever put on a pair of gloves. The debate will always be there; The level of competition he faced later on in his career and after his first retirement may have tarnished that legacy. However, at thirty-nine years old he is ready to take on another challenge.

Emelianenko is set to square off with an unnamed opponent on June 17 in St. Petersburg, Russia at Fight Nights (EFN). EFN has a deal with UFC’s streaming service “UFC Fight Pass” which means subscribers would get a chance to watch Fedor’s fight.

EFN will hold a press conference on April 19, 2016 to announce Fedor’s next opponent.

Emelianenko most recently came out of retirement to sign with Rizin Fighting Federation. He made his return bout at their New Year’s Eve show where he defeated Singh Jaideep in just over three minutes. Bloody Elbowspoke with Rizin representatives and they were informed that they do not hold exclusivity to Fedor and he is free to take fights in Russia.

Yeah, the UFC give 7 figure contracts to Werdum & Hunt as well as pay Overeem $500,000 every fight but yet they'll only pay Fedor 50/50, if that's what you have to tell yourself to sleep at night. Werdum, Hendo and bigfoot all made sure he'd never face legit competition again.

You must be new to MMA. Tim Sylvia was the big dog UFC HW champ during that era. Fedor destroyed Sylvia quick. Mark Coleman won the 2000 Pride grand prix. Fedor Beat him as well. Fedor was great but he is past his prime and probably never going to take on top level fighters again.
