Oops lol. Should have just stayed quiet. Now you know what you must do...

Read their disclaimer. Fightmatrix isn't real rankings. Oops.

When all else fails just deny the rankings

<Fedor23>

Those aren't rankings, bud. Read the first line:

"These ranking sets have been generated by a recent version of the software, using recent data and will not match previously published issues of the rankings"

Try again.

And the fight 28-28?
Correct—I scored it a draw.

What I was taking issue with that Luke Thomas said, is how it definitely should’ve been stopped, Fedor lost, and the fight only was allowed to go on because of “corruption.”
I get that there are refs who might’ve stopped it, but it’s debatable whether it needed to be stopped. And I don’t know that it’s proof of corruption. We could have the same view of Kongo-Barry, Lesnar-Carwin, Magny-Lombard a whole bunch of times, and various other fights. And while I scored rd 1 a 10-8, there’s plenty of examples of fights where judges didn’t award 10-8s. Big John McCarthy actually uses Lombard vs Magny as an example of a 10-7 round—and yet all judges only scored 10-9s. It happens, is all I’m saying.

I hate to break it to you but there were no previously generated ranking from 2003. Nor is there any such thing as 'real' or 'official' rankings. There are just websites, publications, and media outlets with varying degrees of credibility. And Fightmatrix is one of the more reputable ranking outlets.

Goodridge has been in their 2003 top 10 for over a decade now. Let me know when that changes.

They are not rankings. "Previously published", not generated.

As good a resume as possible given the times he fought in.

End of dark age and right smack in the golden age.

No. Pulling a massive upset (Rogers and Randleman) does not qualify you to fight the worlds top HW

Nor does beating a LHW via injury (Coleman)

Nor does being a MW who never fought at HW(Lindland)

Rogers is the only acceptable fight of the 4 for the top HW. And only because Sergei, Reem, Werdum etc were in limbo/booked. Rogers was a bum with one good win
Well Randleman “qualified” to fight Fedor by being in a tournament and winning his fight over Cro Cop. Fedor is who was next in the tournament. Good fighter, former UFC HW champ, went down to LHW, was ranked there, Came back to HW and was ranked there as well…perfectly good fight.

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say about Coleman. He was a former UFC HW champ and former PRIDD GRP champ who was ranked at HW in 2004 when Fedor beat him.

Coleman was barely ranked when they fought the first time, 7 years removed from losing the UFC HW title, and was 40 years old.

He's talking about the second time, 2-3 years later, when he fought Fedro after "beating" Shogun by freak accident. He wasn't ranked, was 42, and almost a decade removed from being UFC champ.

Oh I see. Agree on the rematch, not the most relevant fight. Quite awhile from being UFC champ, and Coleman was 6 years from being PRIDE GP champ—as long as we apply the same standards to Stipe or Ngannou’s geriatric wins, I’m cool with that.

But Coleman was a good win in 2004 and saying “barely ranked” is kind of silly in that ranking climate. It wasn’t a title fight, but it was a good fight, against a ranked opponent.

Coleman beat the top 5 P4P Shogun before he fought Fedor for the second time. This clown @Fioretti avoids facts like the plague. Coleman didn't get that fight by accident. Barnett ducked and Mirko was injured and Coleman was riding a win over Shogun and stepped up.

He barely made the bottom of the rankings. He was 7-5 in his last dozen, 4 years removed from the GP win, and 40 years old. A decent win on paper, a good name, but not a top fighter anymore.

More name value and a product of a shallow division than anything.

Winning by injury against a top guy in the division below didn't make him a ranked HW. A win over Frye 3-4 prior was his last relevant win before the Fedro rematch. What facts am I avoiding? That's some serious projections there, sweetheart. Coleman wasn't ranked in the second fight. That's a fact.

Thats Stipe whole career

Really though "ranked" isnt some set standard, the level you need to be a top 10 HW today is significantly lower than it was in say 2007 for me.
