Favorite War Room poster

This thread is crazy. From bro-hugging to simultaneously discussing JvS' perceived dishonesty, Mir vs Big Nog and the state of the Heavies

Anung Rama is A-Ok in my book.

He can come by me to smoke up and read comics on my nice sofa anytime he wants.

Prob feed him some high end Mezcal as well. Whatever happens after that the comic book pages will wipe up. Lol

I find it baffling that it's 2016 and posters are still using the word "troll." And referring to posters who aren't white or yellow belts? Do people think that this is a thing?

An example of real trolling, is when LucasWithLidOff went for a few months saying he had converted to Islam. THAT was trolling. The last troll poster who had a blue belt or higher was Gargamel. Otherwise, most everyone is who they are IMO unless they change their beliefs over a long while.

Natman was an idiot. I still remember arguing with him that Brock would take Mir down. He said it was suicide to take down a black belt of Brock's calibre and that Brock would outstrike Mir. I knew Brock couldnt strike for shit even back then.

JVS handed out justice to those HW posters.

Yeah I don't believe you. And Natman is a very good poster (particularly as it pertains to mma) though he sticks to himself.

And again, if you had read the silver belt number of posts of JVS in the heavies you'd know his mma knowledge of the past 10 years is practically non-existent (outside of what the headlines of an mma website or Wikipedia stats might tell anyone who gets by with that and not actually watching the events).

No I get it. A decent amount of his fights post-accident aren't "dominant" wins. It's not like a JDS win where he beats you up and drops you multiple times. It's sudden and violent, and he might've been losing beforehand. But he gets the win. Either that or nothing of note happens and then he pulls off a finish, like vs Kongo and Bigfoot.

I really wonder how good he would've been if he didn't get into his motorcycle wreck. A HW with explosiveness, KO power and bone breaking subs. Damn. Losing out a couple years of your prime has to really fucking suck too.

It was Herb

Mir has been very dominant since the accident, but he's had losses too (some were decisions against big names). It might have been "more" dominant, but it was still dominant (particularly from 2007 - 2011).

I hated Mir for awhile but he grew on me. He's been a part of so many entertaining fights.
There is just something about MIR and Barnett, its like there is something that is holding them back from legend status. You look at them and you think they should be better than they are or at least have achieved more. Barnett especially

yes I know he has great grappling credentials, etc. I just thought he could b more dominant at mma.

I've probably cheered for his opponent plenty of times over the years but there's been plenty of big fights over the years where I've wanted him to win and he delivers in entertaining fashion. He's not so much a favorite so much as a guy I respect, who can deliver, and damn near always faces top competition.

Dafuq's not to like? :)

Both champs. Both faced top competition. Neither dominated. If you've only got room for 3-5 legends I understand. I'm personally more expansive than that.

I can understand mir drop off after the wreck, but Barnett should have been more dominate. I think Barnett is a legend to people in the know (especially with grappling thrown in). I was referring to the general public.

That's the thing about Mir, he achieved pre-and-post-accident.

Barnett was one bad matchup from stealing Mirko's open-weight crown. Josh would have easily smothered Wand while Mirko would have done what to Nog? But that's the bitch of it with tourneys. Saku went 90 with Royce and then had to fight Igor. I forget who Igor dispatched with relative ease.

I sure do miss those days. Fuckin' fuck. Legitimacy and fun just might be mutually exclusive.

yep, I wish the UFC would do either a weighted tournament or open weight tourney.

they have got to do something new to keep things fresh.

Alright, lemme see your top 5 list.

I'll answer this way.

Fedor is number one, then there are five or so who could be argued from two to six (Big Nog, Frank Mir, Mirko Cro Cop, Josh Barnett and Randy Couture). After that there are another three or four and then another three or four.

I'll go with:

1. Fedor
2. Mir
3. Big Nog
4. Cro Cop
5. Josh Barnett
6. Randy Couture
7. Werdum
8. Mark Coleman
9. Vovchanchyn
10. Cain Velasquez

11. Andre Arlovski
12. Tim Sylvia
13. Alistair Overeem
14. Junior Dos Santos
15. Daniel Cormier
16. Pedro Rizzo
17. Antonio Silva
18. Brock Lesnar
19. Shane Carwin
20. Mark Hunt
21. Gabriel Gonzaga
22. Ben Rothwell
23. Kevin Randleman
24. Roy Nelson
25. Don Frye
26. Dan Severn

*edit - put in Cormier for the Grand Prix win

Something like that. The last 15 or so are quite interchangeable.

So in your opinion, everything that happened after 2010 does not really count?
