Favorite War Room poster

Apparently we have different opinions on what "personal jabs" mean.
He is condescending towards the point being made, but he is not making personal attacks towards the poster. A lot of posters often attack JVS on a personal level, but I have never seen him start out with making personal attacks.

Now that you know what I'm trying to convey then there's no reason to argue over a relatively vague phrase. Calling someone's point "stupid" is insulting to people in America from my experience. Maybe it's different where you live.

JVS is the greatest Troll this site has ever seen, not even implying he's intentionally trolling, but that's the end result.

It's usually glorious to watch. He's also generally pretty respectful, until the other person isn't.
I've had quite a few debates w/ him that never remotely devolved into personal attacks or namecalling. Now, arguing the exact pt I was making and not shifting the premise slightly, that's a different story entirely. He only does that b/c others allow it, or simply don't even realize whats happening.

Sometimes I come here just to read debates between him and Pan or some other intelligent WR submitters....Great examples of the Socratic Method and how arguments can be swayed relatively easily
respect

It's not universal in america, though. Some people are insulted by it, but that's often seen as being "oversensitive."

I think there's a distinction between, "you are wrong because you're not thinking things through or you're not aware of information" or "your point is obviously wrong" and "your motives are bad." Sensitive people can certainly be offended by the first one or some version of it, but the second is really what I'd call a personal attack.

That doesn't happen either.

Seems like someone got sent to his room without dinner by Mommy

Lol im really far from a delicate flower but nice try

I just don't have much time for posters who post like Louis Black sounds when hes going off and i thought that was plainly aggressive if you thought it passive i appologize for my lack of clarity .

Delicate flower tries to state otherwise and lebens born claims to know something about parenting

I will agree that there's no point in arguing this.
Though I don't see JVS calling a point stupid directly, but rather it's implied in his own argument. And yes, I think that's a fine way to debate.

I doubt that line of thinking is exclusive to where I live.

I've never seen someone IRL have what they're saying called stupid (or some other disrespectful form thereof) and them not take that personally. I don't think my point requires that everyone view it that way, just that it is common, to be expected with people you don't know, and understandable based on the implication that stupid is as stupid does.

I've explained what I was referring to and I agree it's better to have a thick skin rather than following suit.

I'm sure I've many times said, "oh that's a dumb point" or something like that. People make dumb points a lot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He often uses "bizarre" as a synonym. If this all hinges on having to use one particular word then yeah, it's certainly far more rare than I've indicated.

you can lie to me, that's fine my dude. But don't lie to yourself

of course I do, although it's easier to research when I'm not on my Govy PC. You also routinely make arguments formed on assumptions that are just that, assumptions and not facts.

and then, not related to those pts, there's the whole 'you work for the government, you're on welfare' claim which is still hilarious to me

OK, well, looking forward to those examples.

I've seen people get momentarily upset, and then not care later on. Admittedly, this might be because most of the fields in which I've worked have been ones where people make an effort not to internalize the points they make.

I'd like to think they got over it. No matter how much people are dicks to me around here, if they want to get along with me then it's forgive and forget as far as I'm concerned. I feel a little bad for grudge-holders and hope others extend the same courtesy/forgiveness to me after I've gotten lippy. :D

I'm all about this mindset, until someone proves to me recursively to be incapable of reasonable discourse without snide and dishonest remarks. There's only one on here that does that and still gets attention.

Once I feel honest discussion is impossible with a poster, I take the gloves off and put the scalpel in hand. At that point its all about excising a tumor before it metastasizes the rest of the healthy tissue.

Best full of shit poster JVS

Most Racist- Falsdawn

Most informative although watching him become more and more of a bleeding heart over the last few years has been depressing-- Pan

What a coincidence, I have you pegged as most asshurt after Rip.

I. Have. You. Pegged. Asshurt.

What can I say friend, I know my audience. ;)

Since this is a backslapping thread you should know that I tend to enjoy your posting now that I've come to see more humor in it. At first I just took you for kind of an intolerant prick.
