Favorite movie theater experience

Midnight release of the 2nd Matrix movie. That was back when you lined up to get a good seat. Everyone geeked out for everything.

My friends and I smoked a couple blunts and went to see the second Matrix movie. When you’re that high, and watching in a theater, it’s a great movie.

I saw broke back mountain at a ghetto movie theater and the crowd was hilarious . Me and my girl and buddy then made the bar with like an hour til last call and racked up a 300 dollar tab.

My grandma took me to see jurassic park and it was super awesome and I ate so many skiddles and Starbursts that I puked when I got home. This would be our last outing before a stroke.

Saw saving private Ryan with my other grandma who worked at willow run during the war. It was a big deal to her so I was happy to go. Even happier after as that movie is awesome amd she loved it.

Had a heated altercation at the passion of the christ when some church ladies were like oh my God I can't believe how much he suffered and I was like what you didn't read the book what did you think getting nailed to a wooden t and scurged looked like and we went back and forth for a while.

Saw pirates with my mom and wife and we thought it was so fun we went right back in and watched it a second time. The first one was awesome.

Jay and silent Bob stoned with my buddies was an absolute blast. We were fn gone and laughed so hard. Totally went to red Robin after and everyone ordered 2 meals.

Buddies mom took us to see terminator 2 and me and him thought it was the most awesome movie we ever saw and went home and reenacted the entire movie. We both had killer toy gun arsenals and totally molded daisy rifles into 1897s and went bike riding.

Saw Braveheart with my moms at the Penn theater and we loved it. Had a fun walk home through deserted Plymouth super duper late just talking and laughing about Mel going berserk like we were the only 2 people on earth. On a similar note we got stranded in South Dakota in the town with the corn palace and man the walk back to our hotel after watching signs was scary and my moms was laughing at me wishing I was more heavily armed.

I dunno if all that's exactly theater experiences but the movies were the center piece of some really fun times with friends and family.

What is yours?

I will start. I have a very fond memory of when my dad used to have to go for a few weeks of summer training as an army reservist. I didn't like it because I really didn't like my step mom. So, in '91, the night before he had to leave, he took me to opening night of T2. HOLY FUCK was my mind blown!

Let's hear some stories!

1. Final destination 2
Saw this in Inglewood opening weekend with a hyped crowed. Lots of interaction with the audience made the movie incredibly fun

I’m a huge letters to Cleo fan and didn’t know they were in the movie. I also liked save Ferris a lot.

I think rambo 4 is the loudest movie I have ever seen in a theater. Maybe the boat scene in act of valor was as loud.
No, what I meant was most people described their favorite experience in the theater, and you just listed your top 4.

I saw Godzilla Minus One in a theater with seats that reacted to the action on the screen, kinda like being on an amusement ride. It was sick asf. Plan on doing it again when Godzilla Minus Zero comes out

I'm not sure I'd like to watch any Alien abduction movies in them........

Star Wars Phantom Menace opening night. I saw it at a small town theater. Some how the guy got it opening night. Like the towns entire high school and middle school was there. Everyone was dressed up and shit and there like an hour before it started. I can only describe as like the only movie I ever went to where there was like a tailgate. The movie was alright but nothing has ever matched that energy I have seen since. Only thing I have heard that might is the Rocky Horror Picture show with die hard fans.

Hmmm....

I took my son along to see Logan at the cinema, he was 12 or 13 at the time and it was rated a 15 here. Straight after school in his uniform. Didn't check the age rating and we went straight in together. First I realised was when in a trailer was some graphic violence and was like...oh , hang on...

Sat and watched the whole thing with him . Had a great time with the whole " We got away with one there '" and he told all his friends at school he got taken in by his cool dad to see Logan...had a couple of his friends actually ask me if I took him in and I said " Yea..." . Was good for cool dad status ...

Saw Deadpool in a deserted theatre , I was the only one there . That was great .

Three for me. I used to go to a Cinemark in the hood because they had the best seats and popcorn. They also had $4 matinees at the time. Liberally went there like 5 times a month for a go 2-3 years.

I went with my ex to see the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and during the movie the "commentary" we'll say was hilarious. The scene where Leatherface was chasing a victim in the filed and was running came up, a guy just yelled to the top of his lungs "YOOOO, that n***a is running!! He aint supposed to run!!!" The whole theatre just lost it.

Second was same theatre, watching Return of the Sith I think, the one where Yoda actually fought (sorry, not a huge Star Wars fan). Anyway, more commentary; when Yoda came out a dude yelled "ahhhh shit, Yoda 'bout to do something" Not sure why it was so funny, but at the time it was.

Last was when the whole theater literally ERUPTED when Optimus went Beast Mode on Megatron and Sentinel Prime. All of the Transformer movies are a guilty pleasure of mine lol

Willow - The first memory i have watching a film in the theatres and it blew me away.

Forrest Gump - Very inspirational movie, I felt like I can do anything after watching it. Even ran home, instead of being driven back home.

Braveheart - I think this changed the perception of realistic battle sequences. I was in awe of watching this film.

Rocky 4 in a packed cinema the day it came out, the whole place was cheering like it was a real fight

Jurassic Park and Scary Movie (both on opening night) are the first that came to mind.

Seeing Star Wars at the drive in theater with my parents and brother when I was a kid.
