Jackies older films were great for the technical martial arts scenes, but thats about it.

Off this list id have to say Bloodsport overall.

Thank god Van Dam elevated chorography to a higher level.

Wheels on Meals

I would have said Dragons Forever if Jackie Chan and Benny the Jet hadn't used stunt doubles for the final fight though.

It's funny that Mortal Kombat developers were inspired by JCVD for Johnny Cage and they included this in his moveset, but the original MK motion capture guy (Carlos Pesina) didn't quite nail it

Years later they made it way more faithful to the original:

Blood sport for re-watch Karate Kid at time of release

Big Trouble in Little China is the best movie on that list, but to paraphrase Crimson Peak, it's not a martial arts movie, it's a movie with martial arts in it.

That's why I voted for Bloodsport.

i never care for Karate Kid. Karate Kid 2 was way better.

Kickboxer. I'd already voted before I even saw the poll.

Big Trouble is a great movie but not a martial arts movie in my opinion.

Bloodsport is and always will be the GOAT. Its the shawshank redemption of martial arts movies. A true masterpiece.

With that said, the Karate Kid 1/2 have the more enjoyable storylines and better acting but the actual martial arts in both are rather limited.

Big trouble due to the fantasy element

I guess blood sport seems like an obvious one for this forum

Hard to pick, but the most satisfying ass whoopin' was the beatdown of Van dam's brother in KB

Karate kid was a very inspiring film for me. I wanted to learn katas and take on other teenagers who were better at fighting.

Yeah, Kosugi was huge in 80s ninja movies... He was in the best ones: Enter the ninja, Revenge of the ninja, Black Eagle (Van Damme was the villain in this one btw)...
I don't seem to remember Black Eagle. Will check out. Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I think a HD restored version was recently released cause it was like only available in vhs

If we were to dive in the 70s the list would go on forever...
One fav of mine which always flew under the radar and I feel is criminally underrated is Master of The Flying Guillotine. Everything about that film is SICK!!!

Master of the Flying Guillotine is pimp. It's probably the single biggest influence on martial arts movies and games and it's not close. I've lost track how many times I've seen it but manlet Sagat aka Nai Men the Thai boxer gets me every time. He's just hilariously awesome.

lol, yeah, and what about the Yoga guy? Any chances someone at Capcom HQ remembered him while designing characters for Street Fighter II???

Anyhow, what I like the most of this masterpiece is that is incredibly atmospheric and that is mainly due to the awesome sound editing and the electronic-kraut rock soundtrack (Which was shamelessly stolen from german bands such as Tangerine Dream, Neu! or Kraftwerk, btw), truly one of a kind!
Credits theme and Master of the Flying Guillotine theme deserve special mention

my bad. I was thinking Ninja 3.

I watched American Ninja 3 trailer. It didn’t look too bad, but you know how it gets when movies get to part 2, part 3 and so on.
