Once a month

Half day on Friday with an afternoon company / family BBQ... after announce an employee of the month with like a $200 gift card to Academy ... or something.
This.

Once per quarter, we used to have all the employees get together in a big meeting room for an hour and we'd give out awards. They'd get a certificate for winning some category. Biggest sale of the quarter, most productive employee of the quarter, most customer compliments, etc.

We'd announce the winner of each one and everyone would applaud while they walk up to accept their award.

Most people go their whole life without ever having hundreds of people applaud for them. It's a pretty cool feeling.

We'd hand them a certificate, a gift card, and then they pose for a quick photo with me.

Sometimes I would even invite their family so they could be proud of their mom or dad. And I go out of my way to go tell the family how hard their parent works.

I like to think when they spend that gift card a few weeks later they feel like a winner all over again.

My former employer would arrange for a food truck to come to our place. Usually Mexican but sometimes Chinese. They would pick up the tab for everyone's lunch. Other times they would bring in massage therapists and we would each get half an hour in a massage chair being worked on by well trained hands.

Ok so if you’ve been following my posts which I know you haven’t been, I run a business here that does industrial contracting. I quit a good job as a mill manager to go all in. I was tired of making someone else money. I felt that from dealing with contractors in the area firsthand, there was a lot of things I could improve on.

In a short time, I’ve been able to make major ins, land big contracts and build relationships because I have an all star crew of staff and I actually answer the phone and take care of my customers.

I pay more hourly than any of my competition and I am generous with hours. One of the common points in my last thread was shift flexibility so I’ve worked on that and have a few scenarios where I work around things and pad their hours for helping. I provide health and pension and train my guys and invest in them more than they’d get elsewhere.

That being said, I’m always thinking outside the box for improvements. What’s some of the best things you’ve received at work that made you happy or feel lucky? I’d just like to see some of the little stuff that made you feel appreciated. Cash bonuses, Christmas and thanksgiving turkeys, gym memberships.. help me out here Sherbros.
Have you considered providing coke and hookers?

Most Fridays we are allowed to leave anywhere between an hour to 3 hours early depending on the workload and still get full day pay. Entire Christmas week being holiday pay

Back around the 2008 recession I was cleaning out foreclosed houses and got to keep left behind stuff. Never found anything too great, but did get a lot of thermoses and batteries.

My favorite job perk is that my schedule is very regimented and predictable M-F which makes it easy to have hobbies and a good work life balance. I can usually take a monday or friday off if I want a three day weekend.

Having unlimited PTO is pretty awesome.

I've gotten huge bonuses the past two years.

-Flexible schedule
-decent PTO offerings
-free continuing education courses(becomes a big expense for those who work in healthcare)

That's about it.

12 weeks of paid vacation probably...

Gotta know how the unlimited PTO works out in practice - how much time off did you take in the last year?

We replaced Casial Friday with Hookers an blow Friday's. Been a real hit around the office.

4 week last year. I'm probably going to take about 4 weeks again this year.

Best job I ever worked had the following perks:
  • Company catered-in hot lunches three days a week. (Mon, Wed, Fri) CEO wanted five days a week, but small HR said they couldn't keep up with it.
  • Free snack and drink machines.
  • About once a month on Fridays, the company would sponsor events in the office. One time they had a company set up a miniature golf course in the office.
We knocked off work at 1pm and played a round of golf. Company supplied beer while playing.
  • Had Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO insurance and they paid about 90% of the premiums.
  • Would have regular company sponsored lunches at local eatery. (Yard House)
When an executive would leave the company, they would sponsor a Happy Hour at the local high-end restaurant with an open bar. (Paul Martin's)
  • Rented a theater to watch latest blockbuster movies.
  • We had regular, unscheduled nerf gun battles.
  • When we had to work late to meet a deadline, company would cater-in hot dinners.
  • Company sponsored picnics with food and drinks.
