Father Charged for Boxing Son Up

There's fatherhood at its finest

I get what he's trying to do, but this is a massive failure as a parent. His son may well end up hating him.

He's acting like a bully, and exploiting his son in public. TBH if my dad, or any adult had done something like this when I was that age, I would probably end up hitting him in the face with a weapon.

Damn, I'm kind of mixed on this. There's parts I think aren't a bad idea, but he went overboard in multiple ways with this. Not that violence should be used to discipline, but the difference between 7 and 17 are pretty drastic and it could be used in a good way. Kid is honestly pretty tough for getting so busted up and not dropping.

I'm kind of wondering what would have happened if the kid had taken him down with a single and choked the dad out or something, If he defends himself, what can the dad say since that's part of his reasoning?

Yeah, was definitely getting out of discipline and teaching territory, and in to full on bullying when he's showboating and putting the camera in his face. And I get that it's part of the lesson he wanted to teach him, but he just went too far with it.

Father is an attention whore idiot.
I respect discipline and tough love but this dad is a clown. He shouldn't have recorded it or posted it anywhere and he shouldn't have taken it to the point where the kid's face was bleeding.

When I was that age a college kid was picking on me at a skateboard ramp near my house then got all up in my face posturing like he was about to swing on me, so I hit him in the face with a skateboard and ended his day. He was twitching like a fish. I can't imagine the revenge I would have taken if someone did some intentionally humiliating shit and posted it online, let alone a family member. Be careful who you fuck with, no matter how old they are.

Sounds more like Dad wanted to find a way to live out a glory day of boxing that never happened while trying to prove more to himself than to his son, that Dads still pretty tough.

He's 17 FFS.

LOL @ "boy"

Don't have a problem with what the father did.

Who would have thought that punching someone in the face/head over and over and calling it "discipline" wouldn't fly

Guess that boy better not be skipping school anymore then. Better for his daddy to do it than law enforcement to do it later on when he thinks he can get away with whatever he wants.

This is the type of things certain groups of people blame on "men" when it's just a problem with the * ahem * urban crowd.

Bad thing to do but honestly it doesn't look that bad. The punches were not that hard and I don't see any blood. It looks more like a sparring session between a total beginner with someone that has two years under the belt and the latter puts a bit to much into a few of the punches.

If he would have done this in private I'd prob say it's ok. The fact that he recorded and posted it publicly makes me want to box him up, choke him out and post it too

I don't have a problem with this at all. It's tough love and it may have gone a bit far, but it was only about a minute, so it's not like he dropped the kid then jumped on him and beat him until he was unconscious. People in this thread are just too soft... kids today are so coddled that any form of discipline has become illegal, and people wonder why this generation is a bunch of pansies.

I don't have a problem with it, but did you even watch the video? The kids nose was leaking like crazy at the end of the video.

Yeah, this. My dad and I used to box all the time. The only difference is this guy was doing it from a place of anger. But whatever, the kid is 17. I was able to kick my dad's ass by the age of 14. At 17, it would have been a total massacre. So it's the kid's fault for being a total pussy.
