It's easy to pretend you're not offended by Dricus' initial remarks about being the better representative of an African pro mma fighter, until you're an African pro mma fighter who happens to have a much deeper and unproblematic native heritage with the continent. Dricus can play it off as strictly a "geographical technicality" but that was a stupid thing to say. As for Izzy, Dricus took a a big ignorant shit and Izzy decided to kick it around. He's making it ugly and he wants DuPlessis to regret his words. He could've just said he wants to be the first SA UFC champion. Instead he chose to drag all other African champs.

When shots are fired from all directions, Izzy tends to go nuclear. Then he goes and fights at his best. That's all that matters to me. If it's all just an act from both sides than I got my wolf tickets in my hand.

Dricus made a calculated burn and it clearly worked. I think it was Duffy on the post fight show who noted that for all his style, Adesanya sucks at trash talking. This was another example.

Out of them 3, the only one who actually got really butthurt was Israel & that didn't surprise me at all, Israel is the same who starting beef with Whitaker because Whitaker a NZ born fighter was training in OZ & representing OZ. I like Izzy and this was cringy. Apparently the N word means nothing to black Africans too which is interesting. I'm not black so none of my business. I just think he could have used that angle and been less cringy. 26 and me? Fumbling his words? That was rough.

Usman was not pissed, he simply answered the question from media & he answered the question with a thoughtful response with no ill will towards Du Plessis. Israel on the other hand is going on podcasts, bringing it up, and Ariel Helwani instigated the situation more when Israel was on didn't help with Israel's ego, hence why I said Israel was the only one who really got butthurt about it.
