Long story short, ever wonder how they could predict who was in pictures to recommend tags? I had thought it was location data of who you were with at the time the picture was taken. Apparently, they built up facial recognition of everyone just from the loaded FB pictures. Not having you slowly (and willingly and consentingly) move your face on front of the camera like for iPhones face unlock.

I'm sure they've since sold all of this facial recognition data to various CIA and government agencies.

When can we start criminally charging the corporate decision makers who allowed these illegal practices to go through? Rather than simply fining companies with billions in profits a few hundred mil? They still made money on their data harvesting here, I guarantee it.

Oh, an excerpt from the article-
"Companies like Amazon and Clearview AI are marketing face matching software to law enforcement agencies to help them identify unknown suspects." The ACLU warns that this will eliminate a person's ability to remain anonymous in public.

Wish we had a nutty group like the NRA defending the 4th amendment

....... you thought that was just location?

Is this another one of those things I assumed that was actually a conspiracy?

I think I also didn't think cell phone cameras stitched together from various tagged photos was enough to build a facial recognition 3D model.

Having a built model and recognizing a face off a picture yes, but not building the face map itself.

I think we need to be expecting the worst at this point. If its technologically possible, then they've probably already done it.

Its time to move passed the idea that these companies are in it to make money, I think?

If you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to hide.

Seriously though it's disheartening that this will get very little outrage. It's like we've accepted anything remotely resembling privacy as a thing of the past.

Yeah that's why I never had a Facebook account or any other social media. I often think about stopping using my smartphone. Going back to cellphone ages where there was no camera, no gps or anything that could spy on me. Heck, even TVs have cameras nowadays, very 1984.

Facebook making money is not the problem. How they make money is the problem. Now that people's personal information has been commodetized, it should be considered the private property of the individual to whom the information pertains. Without explicit permission on an individual basis, it should be considered theft to gather it and sell it. I'm not talking about clicking a EULA either.

IMO, society would be much healthier if folks just paid a subscription for social media and search engines rather than allowing these corporations to build a dossier on each of us.

I wonder if anyone has ever successfuly sued for companies using their information? Using the argument that clicking "accept" on the agreements is bullshit?

We all clicked accept for sherdog as well. They're selling our information like everyone else.

You're right. I think the business model of selling information mined by cookies ought to be better regulated. Compiling personal data on millions of people seems innocuous on an individual level, but it lets a very small number of corporations wield tremendous power. I think I might agree with Liz Warren on this issue.

The only problem with that is wrong is subjective and can change at any given time. Allowed watching porn today and executed for it tomorrow. How many would that cull?

So who's getting all this money? The government?

look who runs the companies.

the globalists want complete subjection and slavery.

once they have full control, I have no doubt they will cull the population with lab created disease.

Looks like you've taken the first step to block out the information sellers.

I'm also keeping a close eye on the scumbags who subscribed to me to subvert my firewall
