If I was Werdum's manager, I would have said this:
"Fabricio Werdum has overcome many obstacles in his career: From being let go from the UFC, to being the huge underdog against Fedor and breaking the most lucrative streak in MMA history, to being back in the UFC and yet again the underdog, against Cain Velasquez and beating Cain in his own home town... All while being entertaining and always making sure to be respectful when it counts. However, this is a young man's sport and at 40, it is impossible for Werdum to compete under the conditions of USADA where even basic over-the-counter supplements will get you in trouble.
That being said, Fabricio Werdum still believes he has a bit more to give to the game, and he is eager to take his talent and experience to an organization where he will be able to entertain the fans while making an income from fighting for a few more years, before he retires as a Legend and Hall of Famer of MMA.
As someone who has fought in Pride from the old school days, up to the UFC in the WME era, Fabricio Werdum has nothing left to prove at this age. We would however like to take this opportunity to thank the UFC for the great opportunities that Werdum has received, including winning the prestigious UFC HeavyWeight Championship.
Stay tuned and please support Fabricio Werdum in the final chapter of his career.
Thank you,
- An actual competent Manager"
