I think TLOU2 is just harder to adapt to TV. It's kinda of funny to me to blame it's ratings on "teh gay" when the most critically acclaimed episode from Season 1 was the episode about two gay guys (Bill and Frank).

I didnt play Last of US, I hear it was exactly like the show. If the ratings went down, probably because Joel died, like in the video game. One of the best eps in the first season was about those gay dudes that found each other in the apocalypse.

The funny thing is that the Bill and Frank episode is the one that strays from the game the most. None of that stuff actually happens in the game. It's a flashback and the game never shows how Bill met Frank. The game doesn't even explicitly state that Bill is gay. It just alludes to it.
