Exposing the Grift: Go Woke Go Broke

Did you read the link FROM JAPAN that I posted, pointing out what a lying fraud the author of this hoax is and how he wrote completely different things when writing for a Japanese audience and when writing for a western one?
I glanced through it, yeah. I don't care to take the time to check his and the article's validity because I don't give a fuck about that guy, no one was talking about him and he's not referenced in the video in which this thread is about. The only time I saw him mentioned was in the Smithsonian link your boy angrypikachu posted. Go get mad at him

You can react to someone else's work and make shit up. Like, how do you not know that? You cited the outrage of "leftist activists" earlier and meow so what, they're the only ones who can react and make shit up? Your fingers and reactions move faster than your brain.

It's dog shit because they have people working on it who are bad writers, some of whom, yes, do engage in lame, liberal identity politics.

Then you have a show like Andor that is revered that is extremely left wing but no one cares cuz it's well written and awesome.

Bro I've lost track at this point due to sheer exhaustion of swatting down point after point

What am I objectively wrong about? Plenty of "woke" stuff makes money. That's what the entire goddamn video I posted is about lol, and it cites sources many times.
OK... you've worn me down with your limitless stupidity. It's clear that you are either completely blinded by your political biases or you simply don't have the intellect to grasp even simple concepts or basic math.

It's clear that continuing this conversation is pointless and that I possess neither the time, nor the crayons to educate someone like you.

Have a good day.

I think retarded woke activists working in entertainment industry (movie/series/videogames) ruined the entertainment industry far more than any anti-woke reviewer can ever dream to

First group is cancer, latter is a cold at best

Developers/Companies have direct (negative) impact on products, reviewers usually just talk and rarely can move anything unless they're very big

To not count is hilarious consider reviewers the "anti-woke" side, when specially in last years bunch of big reviews platforms took the opposite stance
Just take IGN or Kotaku lol

PS: also lol at pick Ubisoft of all companies... fucking Sweet Baby Inc is made of former Ubisoft people lol

Wearing people down with your stupidity to the point they just get bored and walk away isn't something to be proud of, just so you know, shortbus
Oooh, short bus, got any other zingers there gramps?

I don't know if anyone actually plays AC here. In AC there is an outside world like a real world and the protagonist interact with the world in the past with this machine called the animus. The protagonist is going to be living the lives of Yasuke and the female ninja. The female ninja lead is actually a real person too but they gender swapped him into a girl. They will probably make the Japanese girl bang Yasuke to show Black and Asian solidarity. I just think it is hilarious that the person outside of the machine is going to experience that romance on both ends.

I will admit I checked out of the AC series after the Egypt one. Ubisoft has bigger issues than offending cultures. Their stock is tanking and their goodwill in the gaming community is at an all time low. I don't think gamers really care if something is woke or not if the game is really good. I think the company has to make stockholders happy so they have to churn out a game for each series almost every year. The new games aren't made well and just seemed like reskinned assets. I really enjoyed Far Cry 5 but New Dawn is a DLC. It's not a separate game like they claim it is.

Also, the painting is thought to depict him, they don't know for sure from my understanding. Figure I'll get ahead of the "well acktuaaaally" posts

Yeah I misquoted that, the painting was from the 1600s.

Myyyyyyy bad

1605, according to this link.

Which means Yasuke would be 50 years old and sumo wrestling?

Even according to Wikipedia there's no record of him after 1582, and that includes that painting. This is a 'If you want to believe that's Yasuke, that's him' situation.

As for if Yasuke was a samurai, technically he was according to that article -
"In 16th-century Japan, the title of samurai spoke to rank and was loosely defined as a warrior in the service of a lord or another warrior."
And he did serve a lord, and was given an honorary set of Samurai armour and weaponry.
But there's no record he ever fought in combat.
These types of details are often left out in arguments both for and against if he 'actually' was a samurai.

So this sentiment that this next Assassins Creed game is going to be anywhere close to historically accurate?
<LikeReally5>

As for the rest of the video, its alot of "Well Actually..." points, while not correctly portraying Critical Drinker full argument correctly so the entire video is in bad faith... AND as I pointed out at the top if this post he claimed that sumo pic of 50 year old Yasuke actually was him? Without the context there's no record of him past 22 years before that his arguments were were done in good faith.

*Haven't heard anyone say "Go Woke Go Broke" for years at this point, but there's numerous movies and shows by Disney that would qualify as 'woke' and have absolutely have failed very recently.

Like 'The Acolyte' and 'Agatha All Along.' Two Disney+ shows involving lesbian witches.... who could have predicted that?

That video was recently uploaded, right? He seemed to be very particular of what 'woke' movies he mentioned to have both succeeded and flopped... and the most recent example has been Barbie from June of 2023.

And he completely lost me when he insinuated Critical Drinker was racist.

I don't dispute that.

But please keep that in mind when I quote the video in the OP - @18:38
"Luis wrote about Yasuke performing feats of strength up to and including sumo matches this 17th century painting depicts an african man performing sumo... which is 'most certainly' Yasuke..... THERE ARE NO OTHER AFRICAN FIGURES IN JAPAN DURING THIS TIME PERIOD."

Now why did I capitalize and bold that? Because Yasuke wasn't the only black person in Japan in this time period.

From the earlier article I posted in my last post -
"Though Yasuke was the only Black samurai in Nobunaga’s army, he was by no means the only African present in Japan at the time. “Several hundred African people lived in Japan during the 16th century,” says Doan."

That YouTuber chose his words to imply Yasuke was the only black person in Japan during that time period, but he actually says 'No Other Prominent African Figures' add to that what he said immediately before that 'most certainly was Yasuke' which is just the YouTuber's opinion.

And that painting was created 22 years after Yasuke's last confirmed accounting.

So no, the odds of that painting being Yasuke are overwhelmingly low.

If he's being purposely deceptive with that (at worst), or haven't done any research whatsoever including a simple google search to confirm that insinuation... chances are the rest of his video is also bullshit.

I mean, has Ubisoft (or literally anyone) said that Assassin's Creed Shadows is going to be historically accurate? Has any Assassin's Creed game been historically accurate?

As far as the painting, does it for some reason have to be painted in a specific time frame? But yeah, either way we don't know for sure, I think it's thought to be him because weren't a lotta black dudes in Japan.

Your points about woke he addresses in the video with specific examples, I'm not gonna repeat myself again.

He cites and breaks down The Critical Drinker using his own videos. He has an entire other video dedicated to William. Another dude made a video about him too. Their source? The words that come out of his mouth.

If The Critical Drinker isn't racist, he needs to be more careful. The video explains that real well. The incessant complaining about "diversity" and "the message", after a point, is uhhhh... yeah. It's also interesting how many people are blowing up this story when we know he was a real dude either way. It's really not a big deal and after having looked into it I find it questionable, to put it charitably, that people are so vested in tearing the game down for having a person who actually existed in it, especially when it's a black dude. That it's being made a big deal is eyebrow raising, the level of protest is too high for me to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't pass the sniff test.

Racism often is spoken in dog whistles and indirectly these days. If William ain't racist then maybe he should fucking chill with the constant culture war bullshit. If he's not an ist or ism or phobe then he's not he's not doing himself any favors nor are some of his bros. Dudes like him lend validity to the goofs like the people at Disney who blame their shows sucking on whatever ist or ism, using identity as a smokescreen for their shitty products.

Yeah I mean, we don't know for sure. I don't know the history but as far as I'm aware him being a samurai is pretty notable and if he competed in sumo then that painting depicting him seems plausible. I don't know whether there were dozens or hundreds like that article says, wouldn't surprise me either way.

The dude cites his sources really well in the video, I think he shows a source for everything he says, so I don't find it too questionable though one can certainly disagree with his conclusions.

But RE: Yasuke, I don't care. He was a real person, he's interesting, so they put him in a game and that's not even the first game he's been in. Ubisoft sucks for other reasons.

AI art prompts are woke?
Google knew they fuckt up that it took them 6 months to fix it.

Google Says It Fixed Image Generator That Failed to Depict White People

The company will allow users of its Gemini chatbot to create images of people with artificial intelligence after disabling the feature six months ago.

This reminds me of Prey. They switched it up by having a woman and a native american tribe and the anti-wokes lost their goddamn minds. Meanwhile, if you're a movie maker, and you wanna do something different to set it apart from the other Predator movies, that's a good move. It's new and different, gives it some identity. I think the same happened here. "We've made all these games, oh, hey - there was a black samurai dude in Japan. That's different. Lets do that."

Certain sections of the internet: "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."

Like brah, chill, especially if you weren't gonna play that shit anyway. So reactionary.
