What's that have to do with wearing a mask?... on a beach?... in Hawaii?... He's right. Take them off and enjoy the sun, ocean breeze and fresh air in your face. You're literally in the one place on the planet where it's impossible to catch any airborne virus... Even if a person was oozing covid out of every orifice were to set up on a towel next to you on a beach, it would be impossible to catch.
And it's not just a big city China thing. A huge number of asians wear them here. There's a very large thai and vietnemese population here and they're often wearing masks. Honestly, I give two shits about it, because it's stuck in their brains that they need to wear them. You could show these people all the studies how masks are useless for respiratory viruses all day long... and they'll still insist
If it makes them feel better.. go for it. But I'm still going to laugh at them in my head. Especially the dummies wearing them in their car, driving solo.

People in Asia wear masks usually because they are sick/have a cold and are trying to prevent others from catching it from them. It has been like this for decades, which has nothing to do with COVID.
Only in the West, where everything is interpreted from a me-centric perspective, do people see that and think "why are they so paranoid? they think I'm going to get them sick"? It makes me wonder why such selfish people like yourself even participate in 'society' - wouldn't you be better off being the master of your own ship on some deserted island somewhere? Oh that's right, because then you'd have to forage for food and shit over a hole in the ground. You want all the perks and benefits that comes with living in a modern society, but you're too short sighted to recognize you are not simply entitled to things just because you were born. Society necessitates sacrifice. It's what you give up for all of the advantages. In the West, people typically wear masks to protect themselves. In Asia, they wear masks to prevent others from getting infected. And with high population densities of most Asian countries, it makes sense.
Now, you ask, why people on a beach in HI are wearing masks? Simple - HI is a huge tourist destination for a lot of Asian countries, and people who are conditioned to view the world in a more collective sense will bring their habits and traits with them - regardless of whether that's in HI or NYC or Tokyo.
It's really actually pretty telling that you "laugh" at people wearing masks and think they are idiots, when you yourself have no clue as to why they are wearing them. That's a huge display of ignorance right there, given you seem to operate based on a presumption that you know everything, and nobody could possibly know better than your fear laden social media outrage porn of memes and pseudo-intellectual bro science.
