Erin Blanchfield needs to change gyms

Go watch her other fights. She knows how to do singles/doubles and using a whizzer and kicking to throw. She is a chain wrestler. Her go to move is a body lock to a trip after the initial entry. She trains at a separate wrestling gym. It’s not something that she doesn’t know how to do. It’s she can’t execute that move against Fiorot.

You aren’t giving Fiorot enough credit for being better in that position. She also never let herself be backed to the cage. Erin uses the cage to secure takedowns. Manon also limited her rear leg kick to prevent the double into a trip that Blachfield likes to counter with.
She never tried chain wrestling and she only went for the legs once. And I'm giving her a break when I say once, that was a half ass attempt.

Something about her current training routine is preventing her from doing anything other than clinch wrestling. Let us know what that is if it isn't her current coaches. Her corner was abysmal so I'm using that to deduce that the gym is the issue.

Her main training partner shoots doubles regularly. Clearly the gym works on it.

I thought she was one of the few legit WMMA fighters but I spent 25 minutes watching the superior striker never attempt a single or double leg while continuously running into a lead hook over and over again. I've learnt my lesson, never again will I defend WMMA

So what's the issue? Does she not know how to do doubles? And after 2 rounds of nothing successful happening why wasn't her corner instructing her to do so?

You don’t have an understanding of her skill set . She didn’t have the opportunity. She shoots doubles when they are close to the cage so she can chain it.

She doesn’t have the foot work to cut off the cage either. She can only plod forward. Blanchfield isn’t the type of athlete to shoot a power double from the middle of the cage and push the opponent to the cage. She doesn’t possess that type of explosiveness or speed.

Maybe just didn't see an opening she liked to shoot. Fiorot is pretty long so she'd need to shoot from a distance.

Facts. She is surrounded by yes men. That gym has been talking about her being the best in the world for years. I’ve trained with those guys and never understood the way they hyped her up.

Her record was better than she was. Never expected much of either. Figot struggled some beating a 1 handed smaller Rose she gets destroyed by Val or Grasso.
I dont think anyone is going to "destroy" manon at this weigh. Grasso or Val are tougher matchups than blanchfield but it will be close in either of those fights

She tried nothing but clinching and she shot for less takedowns than Fiorot. GTFO with "her coaches are fine", they were terrible.

What's with this weight crap some of you are manufacturing? She's outmuscled every opponent up until now. She's the number 2 ranked fighters in her weightclass. Weight has nothing to do with it.
Lol you're right man. Fire the entire team. That's definitely not an over reaction. Shooting blast doubles out of range against a more skilled, defensively sound opponent with some of best takedown defense in the division seemed like the play.
She could barely even get into range. She tried to make it an ugly fight because that's all she could do at that point. Imagine Valentina, Zang, Grasso etc .. firing their coaches after 1 loss.

She definitely fought low IQ out there and her coaches were useless. Maybe it's a learning experience for all involved

There is nothing more frustrating in MMA to me than watching someone try to do the same gameplan for 3, 4, 5 ROUNDS. It's clearly not working. What are you doing? Then her coaches were like "I don't know how the rounds are going to be scored. I think you are down". Really? How about telling her she is losing every round and she needs to change her gameplan...

This.

Every card, you see this 3 or 4 times.

1 - Fighters should be aware enough to know when they are getting worked.

2 - I never understand why corners don't tell fighters, "Dude, you are getting worked bad. You lost every round and you have been doing the same shit for 20 minutes. Do you want to quit now and get beer? Or do you want to go out here and try for the hail mary KO? That's your only chance."

Also, what is it with people who lose badly for 3 or 5 rounds and then raise their hands after the final bell?
"Gotta convince those judges!"

It's embarrassing.

Same gym has Erin’s girlfriend saying she’ll take nothing less than signing to the UFC when she hasn’t even beat any notable regional fighters.

That said, Erin’s coaches didn’t fail her. She never listened to them on Saturday. She failed them

Fiorot literally attempted more takedowns than Blanchfield did. That's just awful fight IQ and her corner did absolutely nothing.
I don’t think it’s just that

Erin just couldn’t find a space where she was effective she tried to grapple from far manon would just post off of her and create distance.

Her striking isn’t good enough to mix in her grappling. She’s just incomplete she could have tried to take her down more but I’d just see her failing and gassing out quicker and losing the fight even wider.

She lacks tools more than IQ

I think so too, she also needs to improve her takedowns, one leg or two legs in the middle of the ring.

Blanchfield corner was telling her to just wade in there. Looked like a complete amateur.
