Episode 5 discussion

I find it funny how many keyboard warriors here are insulting both fighter's grappling skills.

"Hey babe, look who's on the TV; Mickey Rourke! Say 'hi!'"

lol her reaction is pretty funny "Stop" **goes back to looking bored***

WTF, who are YOU to say that? If this isn't fighter bashing I don't know what is.

If that's fighter bashing, you should just leave these forums. You obiously ain't about this life

I actually train in BJJ, and I can honestly say that was a terrible show from both guys, neither could control position and got swept constantly through-out, Kelvin figured out how to keep position in the second round and that's what it took to win the fight, very amateurish from a couple professional fighters.

So suck it buddy

Take Bubbas nuts out off your mouth and stop being a cry baby about it.

Look out everybody, this guy trains in BJJ. I'm sure that given those impressive credentials, MGL retracts his statement.

He tranes UFC bro.

Awesome bannage. I hate spoilers.

AHAHAHAHA. A lot of people train, but its much different when you're fighting in an actual ring not to mention for a chance to fight in the UFC. Its obvious both were really nervous (Kelvin due to youth and Bubba cuz he was the big favorite). The problem was mental for both of them not lack of technique.

Kevin, a Rickson blackbelt, was outgrappled by Colin Hart. How about that? It's a fight, its different than theory.

BJJ and MMA aren't the same thing. How are you going to defend subs when your worrying about getting punched in the face. Not to mention the pressure of being on a tv show and the whole UFC thing. And yes I train in MMA, BJJ, boxing and MT, in case your wondering.

Does anybody else feel that Jones never having truly lost (disregarding the Hamill fight) hurts him as a coach?

When he said to Bubba "it hurts me to see you like this", I felt it lacked genuine empathy. Jones doesn't know what losing a fight feels like and can't really console or build his fighters up.

Yea I noticed the same thing. It's like he's almost confused that Bubba lost. Like "I've never lost a fight, how came you lost".
No Jones hate, but I picked up on that too.

THe reason is he trains with Bubba for years, he knows him, he knows what he can do and he picked a match-up he thought would be easy.
That's why he react like this

Absolutely. It was quite evident after Gilbert lost that he kinda didn't know quite how to react. I think its a combination of youth and the fact he hasn't lost yet.

I think it would be better for Bubba to have Chael as his coach.

its fighter bashing to say a certain element of a fighters game is lacking? gtfo man!

we can say what ever we want about the actual fight or performance, it's when you get personal that you start bashing. if we couldn't talk about the elements of a fighters game wtf would we talk about in here?

I just find it irritating, having to read comments such as "their grappling sucks", from people who I bet have never trained MMA...

LOVED that second where Bubba goes limp with that weird stare then taps, he got schooled by a kid on this episode and needed that humbling. He had next to nothing for Gastelum, whenever he got a dominant position he lost it.

Bubba seems weak, mentally, I dont think he has the confidence or focus to ever make it big in MMA but if he can get the wildcard and go from there, we'll see. Good episode!
