Enson Inoue in Jail since May

Damn that is heavy punishment for this "crime"...even by U.S. standards

Hate to sound like a hippie but that's some bullshit. How are you gonna deal drugs with chocolate bars. Get your shit together Japan. Shrooms and weed are harmless
Yeah it makes absolutely no fucking sense at all, it really is bullshit. Just corrupt

Yes it seems he is back in Japan and free. Someone showed the govt his accolades and they immediately released him.
WAR Enson.

I'm glad I showed back up, bc this thread and the news really had me bummed. I've posted countless times about why Enson is my favorite fighter ever. He's not a perfect human, as none of us are, but he has always been willing to go to places many wouldn't dare venture, whether in a ring in PRIDE, or an irradiated zone in Japan, and I truly respect him for it. Glad he's free.

How does Teh Heavies get him out? Lets start a petition or some shit.

Glad he got out.

Nippon needs to put it's regulations up to date.

Jail for shrooms or weed?

Pssssh.

Same.
Not my favourite fighter on the surface aspect but Yamatodmashii is special. Rare.

Well at least Shroomes!
They sometimes saves lives.

Turned one of my friends life around completely from a bum to success and then he had no need for them.
Me I got my own face to deteriorate into death in a mirror.
But found it very fascinating! So I would do it again!
Different outcomes I guess and who is to say who really won?
Probably me since that friend would be dead without them.

Enson has been released and talks about it in this video.

Some cliffs

Ian McCall sent him some chocolate with mushrooms, and he was shocked how much his inflammation and pain were reduced

He mailed 6 bars back to his home in Japan in his wife's name.

He knew they likely were illegal because everythings illegal in Japan, but he didn't think it was a huge deal.

While still in Hawaii, he saw 30 cops suddenly raid his house in Japan, which he watched live via security cam.

His wife knew nothing about it, but was arrested and jailed for 21 days. She was eventually released with no charges.

He flew home and knew he would be arrested at the airport, which he was.

We has charged with drug trafficking narcotics, with a possible sentence of 17 years.

He was denied bail and spent 99 days in jail. He had "friends" who paid for 4 separate lawyers for him.

He was pretty sure he would likely be sent to prison, but in trial he was sentenced to 4 years probation.

He admitted to everything in court and told the judge he knew they probably weren't allowed in Japan, but he was no drug dealer.

He is still facing an immigration hearing, and says it's likely he will be deported for life from Japan, even though he's been a resident for 35 years.

Damn the crazy thing about getting caught with chocolate bars is that they might just go ahead and include the weight of the chocolate with the contraband in the charge.

A lot of locales do, anymore. When I got caught with ten 10mg percocets in 2011, Texas included the Tylenol they were cut with (most are 10mg oxycodone, 325mg Tylenol) in the charges. 100mg of the actual drug, which would have been a bullshit charge and not that big of a deal (two year max sentence), with the 3.25 grams of Tylenol put it over the threshold for a 2nd degree felony, so the sentence was anywhere from 2-20 years (believe it was anything over 4.15 grams, or close to that). And Texas, at least outside of places like Dallas and Houston, big cities, aren't exactly handing out two years on a 2-20. I got 12, for a first time conviction.

People in prison said they threw little bags of meth into a Big Gulp from 7/11 and when they got caught the fuzz weighed the entire cup, 44 ounces of drink and all. If you can't afford an attorney, they'll charge you for the entire shebang. Criminal in and of itself.

I've been up in Alaska since May, so I'm out of the news loop, but I went to Enson's social media to see why he hasn't been posting and Discovered he was arrested in May on drug charges in Japan. Allegedly he mailed himself Chocolate bars containing psilocybin. He put the bars in different wrappers and sent them from Hawaii to Japan. I guess his wife was also arrested, but I don't think she's still in jail. Has anyone heard anything on this? I know he did a month years ago for getting caught with pot, but this is much more serious. From what I could gather from Google translating articles, the prosecutors are seeking a 2-year prison term and possible deportation. Japan takes drugs very seriously, and they also have like a 95% conviction rate. I'm sure his rumored Yakuza connections don't help him out with his, in the laws eyes. His defense is saying he uses then natural remedies to help ease pain from injuries from years of fighting, while the prosecutor is saying he is basically a drug dealer.
Ironically, if there's anywhere that could use some micro doses of psilocybin, it's Japan.

So many mental health issues there, especially amongst the men.

Seems like they're operating decades in the past in some ways, decades ahead in others.

Damn, that's some high level bullshit

Broken system

Whoever runs these private prisons is definitely paying prosecutors to do shit like this in order to fill quotas.

Prisons are big business. Imagine making money on putting people in cages. Wild stuff.

You ain't wrong. They feign like people will get help inside and come out different people, but you only change if you want to (I did, fuck going through that miserable experience again). The only inmates who get into any truly helpful programs, college, anything that will actually benefit them, are lifers, with little possibility of ever seeing the outside, or anyone who will be staying 15 years or more. Everyone else? Publicly they're putting then in classes and programs to better themselves, but the only program I was in was bare bones bullshit, and we sat around cutting up and not doing shit, most days. They don't want anyone to change, they bank on you leaving with the same mentality you had when you arrived, bc they want you to come back. The state pays for it all, so Texans should be pissed that their hard earned tax money goes to a whole lot of nothing.
