All blame goes to the piece of shit who assaulted the cop with a baseball bat

I hope he wins this case

I read about this and the "teen" was 19 years old and was swinging a bat at the cops head before he got shot. His emotional issues were that he was on anti-depressants, and the cop is counter-suing to make a statement. The victim's family filed a law suit, and the cop filed one back stating that every time someone attacks a cop and gets shot for it, the family shouldn't feel like they won the lottery, but it's a black kid and a white cop, so of coarse CNN is going to put their slant on it.

So the Cop says. Remember, he wasn't wearing a body camera and the placement of the body will be easily proven in court along with the distance of the shots fired.

We'll have to see how it plays out in court because the Cops don't always tell the truth.

you left out the part where the cop also killed a neighbor in the same incident. i remember reading this story when the incident happened. dont quite remember the details

Now I'm not trying to start any stuff, but why are people so quick to take the side of the Cops? Now don't forget that this cop killed TWO people as he fired. I'm not saying that the kid DIDN'T do anything wrong, I'm just saying let's see what the court says when it's all said and done.

Also, if the teen called for help, why didn't the Cop call for an ambulance OR use Taser? I know I'm Monday morning QB'ing here, but these are questions that I have.

He says he's trying to make a point.

I think he's entitled to try and make that point but if that's all this is then it strikes me as a frivolous suit.

Usually I blame Obama for these things, but for the remainder of the week I'll blame Beyonce's Super Bowl performance

Edited the Op to reflect...

That's just how I interpreted the events. I could be wrong and if the cop did something wrong I hope he gets his shit pushed in when he goes to prison. The media likes to race bait, so maybe I was a little quick to take the cops side; but you're right we'll have to see how this plays out in court.

You're right. He's entitled to make his point, but man... He should pick another route. What that is or would be.? I have no idea.

Your source says he was shot in the back four times. That seems odd considering the, "I was on the floor about to be brained by a bat", perspective of the cop.

I'm interested to see what comes of this. Why no bodycamera though? This wouldn't even be a real discussion if he was wearing one, everyone would just know. They're so cheap currently and storing data is a problem of the past. You can store hundreds of gigs for minimal charge in the cloud, or just use terabyte size drives. To me, that's the real root question here.

Allowing cops to sue citizens for events in the line of duty is absolutely stupid. It undermines the entire concept behind a police force.

Lets blame Beyonce, Obama and err..who else can we blame??

That's a REALLLLLY good question! If I were a Cop, I would spend my own money to get one if I had to. I wouldn't put on my uniform without it!

Cop might have do this to get his side of the story out there as only the family of the guy shot was getting their story out.

Much will depend on the evidence.

The father call the cops as a domestic disturbance, not as the son was on meds and acting crazy.

If the guy was shot at least once (the first shot) in the front then the others in the back or side(as the guy was turning away) then it sounds about right.

The other person shot was behind the guy that was attacking the cop and the cop never saw her is his claim. Which sounds reasonable.

Much depends on the evidence and if it supports the cops story or not.

Emotionally ill teen: CHECK
Cop shoots a teen and a neighbor: CHECK
Someone sues someone for 10 Mil: CHECK

This story has 'Murica written all over it.

In the absence of evidence to the contrary I would believe the cop's word.

And please, we all know cops can lie like anyone else.
