Social Elon taking control of Treasury, locks federal workers out of their computers.

it will probably get there
Its irrelevant if it gets there or doesn't the fact is that they are blatantly violating the law and separation of powers and there is no recourse from Congress whatsoever, America is a defacto authoritarian country right now where executive branch isn't constrained by laws.

How far will it get? who the fuck knows, its still uncharted territory.

it really was a dem institution. there ain't no republican institution sending money for pride parades and lgbt outreach in eastern euro.
All spending of USAID passes through congress, so if it passes Congress by default its not a Dem institution but an AMERICAN institution, they have a majority in both senate and house and they still decided to ignore congress and law and give the reins of the institution to a guy that isn't even working for government or being confirmed by the senate, that someone is just an unelected and unconfirmed friend of the president.

It doesn't gets more banana than that and like most populists they will justify it by creating an imaginary enemy "I just have to take over government and give myself supreme executive authority because we are in a crisis and a war".

we're not arguing the banana, more about what kind of banana.

I think its at least Mexico levels of banana at the federal right now, where Congress is just a pretend institution and the executive has supreme authority as the judiciary is just full of loyalists, but there are still elections going on and people can still complain and oppose the executive without fears of being thrown out of windows.

The next step is going to be when there is an official challenge to the supreme executive authority wielded by government right now, which i predict will happen at least until the next midterms unless some institutional Republicans grow some balls.

I mean they did fund Jewish groups, lgbt groups, all sorts. Why not also Christians?
Depends on the program. USAID funds things like access to education for Jewish and Arab citizens in Israel, or aid for persecuted religious minorities. If there were Christian’s in need of similar aid around the world—and I’m talking about people who are actually persecuted, not the faux-victimhood the Republicans weaponize here in the US—then that’s fine.
I don’t anticipate it going that way though.

They fund all sorts of groups, they just can't fund explicitly religious programs. But non-religious programs run by religious people isn't a problem and quite a lot of programs funded by USAID are run by Christians, they're just not religious programs.

I don’t think you’ll realize you’ve been fucked until Trump finishes and lights a cigarette.
And when that doesn't happen, you will be nowhere to be found on the topic. So keep pretending your side all of a sudden can see the future and the majority of American voters will all regret voting for Trump.

We don't need to see the future, we only need to see the present dictatorships can't produce better results than democracies because the temptation of abusing power is always going to lead to the leader making mistakes and fucking shit up.

Just look at Xi and Putin, both had clear short term results when they seized power but have consistently been fucking up at every single step the more power they manage to accrue.

I really think there will be some blowback from either Republicans or the Judiciary but so far its kind of scary to see the largest and most powerful nation in the world fall to such levels of bananism.

We've already been proven correct in these first two weeks. Most of what is happening is in Project 2025. I was laughed at hen I said that Trump and his goons are going to pressure federal workers out of the government with MAGA loyalists. It's happening in real time, are you asleep or something? Even JD Vance said this when asked "What advice would you give to Trump?" and then he goes on to explain how he should fire hundreds of thousands of workers.

- All that money will go to Trump, his family and Musko now!

This comercial reminds me what is going on today and actually started in 2024 not 1984 and the computer is working for the otherside. "Our enemies will talk themselves to death. while we take over"

I’m never “nowhere to be found” on a topic.
I don’t need to see the future, I can see the past and I can see the present. After Trump’s first term, a whole lot of people had buyer’s remorse.

So far he’s let an unelected billionaire with no legal power take over our payment systems, he’s pressured out government workers and replaced them with loyalists, threatened our allies with tariffs and trade wars, wants to annex Canada, annex Greenland, seize the Panama Canal and commit ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
And that’s just the first two weeks.

We were 100% right about Trump—again. You may never wake up, but I’d like to think many will.

And you know the two weeks in? More like you were going to say this about Trump's second term no matter how it went and you're too eager to wait longer than two weeks. But I suppose you're just smarter than the majority of the American voters who voted Trump in a second time, despite all the exaggerated horror show you describe him as.

Did you see this @Fox by the Sea ? This is an interesting spin on USAID and Christian groups.

Exaggerated horror? All I did was describe Trump’s plans as he’s presented them to the nation.

And no, I’ll freely admit that ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza wasn’t on my Trump Second Term bingo card. That’s Trump for you: no matter how evil I think that fucker is, he’s always worse.

I don't know what he's seeing in those payments that he says they're illegal. A lot of the time running the charity is a business in itself and the functioning costs are a lot if not the majority of the financing. Would like to see a detailed report on all of it when it's done. So far the information has been very hard to come by and the sources are either extreme alarmism or nothing to see here.

This isn't happening though.
That is the plan he announced last night though, yes? You understand that using the US military to force people out of their homes based on their ethnicity would be ethnic cleansing, right?

Here’s something else I didn’t think I’d have say: when the POTUS threatens literal ethnic cleansing, one should not wait around to see if they are serious.

Show me where "literal ethnic cleansing" was said by Trump.

No it wasn't but as usual the uninformed cynics default to "both sides bad" in favor of understanding how the government works.
JMO, but people paying more attention and gaining understanding of “how the government works” has led to this.
The president is the sole authority over classification and every security clearance that exists is at the presidents pleasure.
What is being done here is in full daylight, as opposed to the subversive “baffle ‘em with bullshit” tactics that have been used for decades to create these programs that are ripe for kickbacks and laundering.
Lol at the pants shitting over the coding team having access to personal information while arguing for the status quo, where untold thousands of faceless bureaucrats have that same access..
The legalities of this will be resolved by the judicial, but the peek inside the current functioning of the federal gubment is a win for the country.
