Social Elon taking control of Treasury, locks federal workers out of their computers.

compared to nobody doing anything ever?
at least it's a start.
Oh that’s not true. Reagan did this exact same thing with something called the Grace Commission. They made some commendations and some stuff was cut, but obviously it wasn’t successful or we all wouldn’t be having this conversation today. I’d love to know how specifically Trump’s initiative is different or would be more successful than that, but that’s not an answer well every be getting from Trump, we know that.

The answer is corruption

He was bought by elon

Well....speaking as a democrat, I don't have an issue with visibility or access. Sunlight is the best disinfectant in all things and having fresh sets of eyeballs on this cold not hurt.

But there is a big difference between visibility and control. He should not be able to turn off the faucet to anything. But by all means let him go in and look and report back.

There is definitely a lot to be said about him having access to do such things, I'm sure the title is sensationalised and he's doing it through another party that has executive power. Lefties defending blatant government inefficiency and corruption is a new one though. You have self declared hippies and commies fighting for big pharma, mass farming, inefficient government and corruption, endless war spending. It's almost as if freedom and equality were only on their lips to help weaken USA <seedat>

Makes me wonder what Elon and cost cutting team are up to. Sounds like they want to get to the niddy gritty of government spending.

I believe around 75% of federal spending in on Medicare, Medicaid, and paying interest on the national debt. I've been thinking the other 25% of government spending in what Musk will be concentrating on. Kennedy will be working on lowering medical costs I'm guessing.
Honest question- Does anyone here honestly believe Trump is going to cut costs and lower debt? I hope he does, but does anyone believe he will? Last time, Trump grew the budget deficit by 47% in the 2 years before COVID hit. And this was during a humming economy.

Whataboutism.
It isn't. If you're being selective about what hate speech you consider bad, it deserves to be pointed out. Either condemn it all or don't speak.

But yes, I have a problem with dipshits spewing hate regardless of political affiliation. Hate speech is up 200% on Twitter since Elon bought it.
Again, if you didn't care about the hate speech on Twitter before Musk bought it, nobody wants to hear you care now after Musk make Twitter more inclusive. The more people on a platform means more shitheads.

Also- that was a blatant Nazi salute. THIS is, “my heart goes out to you”:

Not convinced. You guys need to explain why he would do such a blatant and obvious Nazi salute, but then also would need deniability for the act. It doesn't take much to realize that doesn't make sense.

Damn, its so sad to see America turn into a third world country, if ever a right wing or a left wing government manages to snatch power back from these crooks i really hope heads will roll.
heads are rolling now.

That is a very valid question and there are many aspects to it. I get your comparison between the Grace Commission and DOGE as they are different but similar in purpose. Something tells me you probably can't appreciate not only the humor of the acronym, but the fact DOGE is just a reorganization of a quasi federal agency created by President Obama.

Cutting federal waste is a major problem that is very difficult to change since officially cutting funding requires an act of Congress, but whether it will work or not the difference in Trump's initiative is he is not seeking legislation to officially cut the funding or even firing federal employees The Trump administration's strategy looks to be very consciously designed to cut the spending by presenting legally crafted options that will lead to many federal employees voluntarily resignng from their positions due to a ridiculous refusal to obey executive order to return to work as well as the offered severance package.

Well, I guess it’s a good thing that I am not being selective on which hate speech I consider bad. It is all bad. It was bad before he bought it and it is bad now that he has bought it.

Twitter is down 20% for daily active users since musk bought it. Sort of shoots your theory that more people equals more hate speech in the foot.

Why is it my job to explain why he did it? I am pointing out that he very clearly did a Nazi salute (twice). Couldn’t tell you why. I could guess, I could theorize, but none of that takes away from what we saw with our own eyes.

these circle jerks can't seem to reach fever pitch since last November for some reason

Are you not concerned about someone that has personally benefited for public waste being the gate keeper to the public waste? I simply don’t trust giving him the keys to the vault. What’s the point if taking over personnel files? Seems more like the makings of a witch-hunt.

Yeah there's concern but that doesn't change the fact that the media spin always puts the left in a frenzy over everything Trump does, regardless of the timing or the outcome. This has been happening for 10 years now so I'm not surprised

MAGA is such a paradox. It isn't a conservative movement given by Trump's feckless expenditure and disdain for the systems of government. It is like a anti-establishment movement pandering to anarchists. The uncanny part of it all is that leader of the movement is endorsed by the richest men in the world (Elon Musk, Xi Jinping, etc.). It makes no sense.

Are you paid in Rubles?

It should also be no surprise that the most ardent foreign MAGA rats on this forum are the ones clapping the loudest
Trump is paying the piper, comrade. Of course the piper will clap.

ASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has placed two top security chiefs at the U.S. Agency for International Development on leave after they refused to turn over classified material in restricted areas to Elon Musk’s government-inspection teams, a current and a former U.S. official told The Associated Press on Sunday.

Members of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, eventually did gain access Saturday to the aid agency’s classified information, which includes intelligence reports, the former official said.

Musk’s DOGE crew lacked high-enough security clearance to access that information, so the two USAID security officials — John Vorhees and deputy Brian McGill — were legally obligated to deny access.

I didnt think it would be so extreme so quickly. I expect the absolute worst, and am shocked at the speed of implementation.
