Economy Elon Musk gets 1 trillion dollar pay package

But I thought his company’s were going to tank and he was going to be replaced. Heard it here

Remember, the world's richest man is a moron and horrible at business.

Thanks. I googled. It's of course better than nothing, but seems a far cry from ending malaria in Africa. Though will say there are hatorade drinkers everywhere so maybe not all criticism is fair.

Key points on Musk's donations and foundation:
  • Donations to his own entities: A significant portion of the funds from the Musk Foundation have been directed to entities controlled by Musk. For example, in 2023, $137 million was given to "The Foundation," another Musk-controlled charity focused on STEM education for a school near his Boring Company's employee housing development in Texas.
  • Failure to meet IRS minimums: The foundation has missed the IRS's 5% donation threshold for at least three consecutive years (2021-2023). In 2023, it fell short by $421 million.
  • Criticism of self-serving giving: Critics have described Musk's giving as "haphazard and largely self-serving," noting that many donations are tied to his personal interests, businesses, or employees, such as contributions near SpaceX facilities or to schools for employees' children.
  • Potential tax benefits: Donating shares to his own foundation has provided significant tax benefits for Musk by allowing him to avoid capital gains taxes and potentially claim large tax deductions.
  • Use of donor-advised funds: The foundation also transfers millions to donor-advised funds, such as at Fidelity Charitable, which allow him to claim a tax deduction immediately while deferring the actual distribution to a charity.

Thats quite a raise of the bar.

"How can he not donate to charity?"

"He's one of the biggest charity donors in the world and was the single highest donor in a year"

"Well, he hasnt cured malaria in Africa"

There is also an irony using Bill Gates who did more for the world by building his networth with Microsoft than he ever did through the Gates Foundation.

You're right, that is more generous than Harris was making it sound, I was musing about after peeling the onion does his overall point still stand.

Wall Street is totally untethered from reality.

Elon destroyed Tesla's customer base in the past year, and the company would be getting crushed by the Chinese if fair competition existed in its core markets.

Yet the stock is still soaring because it's valued as a genius-led tech company despite the fact that everybody now knows that Elon is a drug-addled moron who spends 18 hours a day doom-scrolling on his social media app and reposting 4Chan memes.

Late stage capitalism is amazing.
The government is the only thing keeping Tesla alive. Maximum level welfare queen.

People often have a very big misconception of what wealth actually is. As if Musk is Smaug the Dragon just sitting on heaps of gold and preventing people from having access to whatever wealth he has.

I lack the words for this.

I'd like to see how Musk's companies do with no government assistance, including no tariffs on Chinese EVs.

This makes Elon crying about not getting tens of billions whilst laying off thousands of workers look like, I dunno, pedestrian I guess. Quaint.
One million seconds is about 11 days and 13 hours.

One billion seconds is about 31 years and 8 months.

One trillion seconds is about 31,700 years.

If Elon, or anyone, has that much money at one time, then humanity might as well nuke itself.

Having that much money, and not using it for anything but your own quest for more money and power, is so fucking pathetic and gross lol. He could literally buy everything, every company, every sports team, every island and nation that's up for grabs, everything. Someone who has that much money and power, and is a dogshit human being, is fucked for humanity.

Everyone who wants to start a new business or anything is going to throw away all their morals and ethics and empathy so they can suck up to a soulless loser for a pinch of his dragon hoard. Privileged rich kid uses privileged money to buy successful businesses, and make more money, and somehow people look up to that? Unmitigated privilege. We live in a dumb fuck world where losers look up to people with money, and assume that they were smart and hard working and responsible to get all that money. WRONG.
It's mind bending.

What is ironic about that?

Elon is (or at least was) in the same mold as Gates. He was a billionaire that was investing in futurist projects: EVs, solar energy, and interstellar (commercial) travel. Can also include his pivot into remote region internet access. But you are trying to judge them based off of purely philanthropic endeavors, which even your AI summary has indicated is often fraudulent.

I see what your saying. Don't really think it's irony though. Asking about charitable giving and so the info was about charitable giving.

It's a separate discussion around who's business interests created the biggest benefit to society. And likely a third discussion over how involvement in politics has shifted policy in positive or negative directions.

If he can hit all the requirements he deserves 2 trillion:

  • Tesla needs to hit a $8.5 trillion valuation over the next 10 years
  • Be the market leader in the US and Europe
  • Deliver 20 million vehicles to customers
  • Deliver 1 million robots
  • Operate 1 million robotaxis
  • Sell 10 million subscriptions for its “Full Self-Driving” software over a three-month period

Letting in Chinese cars would be a very bad idea

It might help some in this thread, he's looking to release a product code named VAZ-1112, apparently it's something for those that aspire for more in life........ it's going to be so popular you might have to wait up to 10 years........
