No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Well I feel better hearing this from others who are actually playing the game and have played the others too. Don’t just want to shit on them and act like my opinion is necessarily right. Though I felt like I’m on crazy pills will the amount of love I’ve been seeing for them too.
Kind of mixed feeling about it all around. Maybe it’s just burning out from them too, but I really feel this crop of bosses is lacking, but that’s just my 2 cents.

Will definitely complete it, but I’m not itching to go back anytime soon, unlike every other souls game.

Another thing to bring joy back lol. I love the cerulean coast and charros hidden grave. Those brilliant colors makes me happy in a very solemn game. Reminds me a bit of certain areas in ghosts of Tsushima.
Loved Cerulean Coast. The first thing I did when getting there was use the spread out gesture and just vibed for a bit lol.

Think I'm about wrapped up with the DLC. Went to finish one last area in the Abyssal Woods and was a little disappointed that was my final area. It was pretty barren after battling through some of the other areas. Finished up with Bayle and the Ancient Dragon Sesennex. Both fights hardest part was the camera and targeting. Got my blessing up to 16 and don't think I have it in me to max it out. I didn't really follow any guides so I know I missed some quests stuff. I guess there is a pretty beastly dual summon quest line that I may finish up.

Overall, had a pretty great time with the DLC.

Antspur sounds really interesting. Rot, bleed and poison potentially?

Antspur with bleed absolutely wrecks the last boss, especially if you use the mimic to double up on status effects. Throw in the fingerprint shield and cheese you're way to victory.

Got to the Mother of fingers boss and it grossed me the hell out. That will do it for today. 4 main bosses down today, so that’s good enough for me.

Ended up just going glass cannon bleed with Bloodfiend Blood Arm paired with the Rakshasa set. Bled him twice and stunned him twice, that was enough for me to get a few Savage Lion’s Claw combos in and that was that.

Got a few of his phase two attacks down and just kept in mind most of what he was doing was just his phase one. I liked the fight, didn’t love it. Felt appropriately epic and a great send off for the DLC.

Overall I think this was their second best DLC to Old Hunters. The exploration, new weapons, art design, atmosphere, sound track, all absolutely stellar. A few mediocre areas and bad bosses aside, I loved it.

Going to be honest, I think the hype got to me. This is still an overworld exploration game and outside of Red Dead, I'm not a fan of them. Most of the exploration was rather cryptic and platform-oriented which just doesn't fit in a FromSoft game.

I know I'm in the minority here but I didn't enjoy one bit of it and I initially LOVED Elden Ring. Sekiro is my favorite game of all time ffs.

I hope everyone else had a better time than I did. I won't be revisiting this DLC ever.

A trophy would’ve been real nice for that fucker too.

God damn Abyssal Woods.

Hey kids, remember Winter Lanterns?! They’re back! And this time they’re invincible and we don’t give you sedatives! Fun, amirite?
I liked the area as it reminded me of Bloodborne'e eerie atmosphere. Midra's mansion was cool to explore and I really liked him as a boss.

Like much of the DLC though, outside the mansion/dungeon, boss and some loot, there's not much to do/find in the woods.

I feel like they could have done so much more in that area!

In a game that’s about summoning Ashes and other players, soloing bosses is handicapping yourself. It’s basically a challenge run if you’re not utilizing basic game play mechanics. The bosses are clearly tuned around having multiple people in the arena.

I’ve come to accept it’s a different type of game.
This is definitely the case, but they often made it a challenge to bring helpers in.

I'm at Radahn now and man it's not easy to call your mimic in. After dying a bunch of times, I found out you can summon a couple of NPC's. I don't know how I'll have time to do that lol. My scadutree is at +15 now, so I should probably find the rest of them.

It's cool to see Radahn at his peak, dude is a beast! What a bitch he is in phase 2 though!

Imagine seeing that monster on the battlefield! I really want to see that in an anime, hell even a live adaption if they can do it justice.

George RR Martin posted this on blog the other day, not sure if anyone discussed this here.

“Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say,” he said. “Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?”
<{jackyeah}>

alright i cleared out everything in my new run. the only thing left to do is the dlc. gonna start on that shit later on today.

That weapon feels busted. I absolutely stomped the second Divine Lion, actually had to stop doing damage to it so I could see its second phase.

I’ll wrap up whatever few small things I can then I think I’ll start a new game + with a martial arts build.

Beat Gaius. I'll try light roll next time to see if it's any different because his hitboxes seemed pretty sketchy.

Then finally found the blue field area and the final map piece. I kept wondering how to get down there but then while riding around the first area again I noticed the tombstone steps from across the canyon. This dlc is huge.

Busy with holiday stuff but I plan on wrapping everything up on Friday since I'm off and the wife works all day.

Just cleared that fucking Golden Hippo prick, at a point now where i'm not sure whether to go through Shadow Keep, carry on thru Foot of the Jagged Peak or fucks with the Cerulean Coast area, any suggestions? think a new area just opened up when the Rune broke too..

Fucked off the River of Blood and gone back to Duel Reduvia's doing far more damage, got 8 Scadutree Blessings Lvl 168 NG.

Beast Claws/ Red Bear Claw is pretty nutty. Especially on a mimic summon.

As far as I can tell, anything can slap given the right setup.

i think i was supposed to go to belurat tower first but i made it to castle ensis and i'm in the chamber right before rellana. bout to lube up first before i try to take this on.

Messed with a couple of builds with Radahn last night for a little bit. I don’t think there’s any way to justify not being able to fast roll for me. I was really digging Antspur, getting three different status effects on him was nice and I was able to get him to his second phase consistently. I also tried using Bloodfiend’s Arm, I wish I would have used this thing way earlier in my play through. It’s absolutely ridiculous how quickly bleed procs. Might be too slow for Radahn but a very cool weapon.

I think I’ll stick with maneuverability and status effects. I think even going back to Falling Stars would be a good move. Hopefully I get more time to dive in to the fight soon.

I'm working on him and Midra in my ng+6 playthrough and this is the first time I've genuinely thought.................. yeah maybe I should start a new playthrough and fight him at ng or ng+1.

I will say that one advantage of doing the DLC on ng+ is the elden beast sword with waves of gold is absolutely nuts for any undead bosses including ghostflame dragons, the giant gravebird, and putrescent knight.
