No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

The ladder took me to a river that runs really south. I made it all the way down to the Abyss now. This map is so huge. If you mean the map to the Ruah ruins you get it in the lower Ruah base. You get there from a little cave area in the east of that area right after beating the Moon Knight. Question. Did you burn that tree after the Romina fight? I didn't in fear of progressing the story before I explored more. Just wondering what happens after.
You get access to the final area and final boss as well as lock out some NPC quests.

I always finish every Souls game first with a Claymore, predominantly a melee build. It's my fav way to roleplay as my main D&D character, the mighty Calidor, always used it (named Sir Thrust, yeah I was 10 :D )

I never uses buffs and rarely use any magic on that first playthrough, but I don't think that's going to fly here lol. Anyone playing a similar melee build? I'm going to hop in shortly and focus solely on exploring and finding those scaducree upgrades, then I'm coming back for Messmer, what a cunt!
Pretty much, I am using buffs though. Some of these fights are rough enough, try to level the playing field a little bit.

fuck me. i forgot how much of a pain in the ass rykard is.

oh of course they had to put the cheese weapon right before the encounter. totally forgot about that.

Who's the rings dude?
Masked curseblades. This is the only pic I could find. Maybe you rode right past the first one but they're all over the place, often guarding scadu fragments.

Disappointed how frugal the rune drops are in the DLC. Scrub spearman poke me and a third of my HP is gone, then drop some breadcrumbs for my troubles giving them eternal rest. Bosses same.

Been playing every day since release. The masterful art direction is classic From and carries everything from excessive clipping of assets to unnaturally poor wind/flora physics.

You guys who haven’t played Horizon Forbidden West for example will have your breath stolen by the immersive majesty of Guerilla’s world design in comparison; combat poor compared to ER, though. Can’t have everything, can we? *kicks rocks

Bosses have been…wars of attrition and more of the co-op design theory I have of the base game where as a baseline things feel programmed around a duo. ATK windows narrow AF (player), excessive ATK chains (enemy), HP bars from Mars, arena-leaping cracked movement, dead in 2-3 hits. Ouchies. Am persevering.

New armors/garb are some of the most beautiful accoutrement From has ever designed. Great stuff. I love how the Black Knights (mounted ones with shield + greathammer) will chase and remount their steed if knocked off. Looks so real or natural. Brilliant pathfinding (programming) there.

Old Hunters > SotE by a country mile for me though, if that’s come up at all and not that it need to. Good expansion.
I really need to go back and finish some of these older Souls DLC and games. I never played Old Hunters, Ringed City, or Sekiro. I don't like like DS3 so I don't see myself playing Ringed City but I heard Old Hunters has the MLGS so that alone makes me wanna play it and Sekiro looks to have a great combat system.

Ahh yes. I don't think I've fought one in a field but I'm sure I had to in some structure on a spiraling staircase. The guy had stamina for days!

Putrescent Knight down! Deaths Poker has still been my go to for asshole bosses lol

Started using deaths poker on this new playthrough, the weapon art on it is nuts.

Went back to exploring last night, found some awesome mini bosses (Bear), gear, and filled in even more of the map. I think I just have one more section. I’m now at the point where I really have no idea where to focus.

That’s the problem I always run into in open world games, I can’t stay on track and want to discover more and more. I’m seeing everyone talk about all these other bosses and I’m not finding shit because I’m not pushing further into areas.

I'm having the same issue. I still have to find the map to the northern part still and I'm not sure where to go next. I've been avoiding the internet so far

LOL, is Tiche getting wrecked in SOTE? My most recent build I didn’t get her, I was using Dung Eater instead and I have to say he’s been a big disappointment. I had heard he was as good or better than Tiche and Mimic Tear but he’s not, he’s a fucking bum. All he’s good for his tanking the enemies’ damage but he does no damage himself. I switched to Mimic Tear and he ripped Rellana and the Hippopotamus to shreds.

Rellana was brutal but the Hippo just felt like a Sekiro boss to me.

I'm having the opposite experience. Tiche keeps getting melted and my Mimic seems to have brain damage. I also believe Dung Eater applies a debuff as well but I could be wrong.

Interesting. All I know is old Poop muncher and I went 0-8 against Rellana, which Mimic and I got her in the first try.
