No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Yeah, the palette takes on more juxtaposition as you make headway and leave the early-expansion muddying brown-reds. Had similar impression myself.

The sky in particular really pops in some places and complements more a change in scenery.

The scoring in some places is magnificent too for the full package. Think slow percussive war drums with cello as you’re roofside and about to drop in on some cathedral ceiling beams in stealthy descent. It’s rad as hell, honestly.
That’s music to my ears. Upon leaving that cavern, it for some reason was giving me the ringed city vibes a bit in tone. Glad to hear it changes up. Thanks for the info!

Any power players already beat it?

Just beat Rakshasa on my first try. Was very close though. Came down to my last Flask. Was beating him pretty easy the first half of his health then he finally got his first hit in and I saw that damage...

Found a cool looking boss I haven't seen mentioned yet . Hopefully no funny stuff in phase two.
Romina

Romina
I beat her yesterday. Is probably my favorite boss fight in the DLC so far. It was after I beat her I realized I probably missed a lot of content and went back to previous areas and explored more and I was right.

She's got some crazy combos

Anyway, found my first really shitty boss fight that is 100% more difficult than it needs to be due to poor design and performance issues.

Looking at you Tree Avatar
Piece of shit is gone. Once again I went light roll and that was the key. Thought it was a matter of tanking some damage but the frames helped mitigate all of that. Stopped head hunting and just did damage where I could.

Think that took me longer than Messmer.

Yeah she does. The hit box on her Centipede attack can be kinda wonky but other than that no major complaints. I really like her design. She is like the Elden Ring version of Quelaag and Najka.
Yeah good call on Quelaag and Najka. Really fun fight.

Did you figure out where to go at the bottom of that ladder? I went down there briefly but didn't see anywhere obvious. And I'm out of places to go next.

And how do you get that damn map piece?
The ladder took me to a river that runs really south. I made it all the way down to the Abyss now. This map is so huge. If you mean the map to the Ruah ruins you get it in the lower Ruah base. You get there from a little cave area in the east of that area right after beating the Moon Knight. Question. Did you burn that tree after the Romina fight? I didn't in fear of progressing the story before I explored more. Just wondering what happens after.

Wasn't able to burn it because I need m's ember or whatever.

I took the ladder down, through the sewer and then got chased by giant flies until I ended up in the catacombs.

You know, the map piece in the middle section. Can't get close to it.

West of church of the crusade

Oh, yeah it took me a while to find that one. You need to do a bit of a convoluted loop to reach it. You need to go north from the Moorth Ruins, through a cave filled with perfumers, then you exit the cave by a river filled with the death birds or whatever they’re called, then keep heading west until you pass two of the base game’s large golem things (the giants that have bows and arrows). Once you get past the golems (or whatever they’re called you should find the map fragment).

I always finish every Souls game first with a Claymore, predominantly a melee build. It's my fav way to roleplay as my main D&D character, the mighty Calidor, always used it (named Sir Thrust, yeah I was 10 :D )

I never uses buffs and rarely use any magic on that first playthrough, but I don't think that's going to fly here lol. Anyone playing a similar melee build? I'm going to hop in shortly and focus solely on exploring and finding those scaducree upgrades, then I'm coming back for Messmer, what a cunt!

That's who I"m looking for.

I'm straight melee and so far it hasn't been bad outside of a few bosses but that was to be expected. The scadu blessings help a lot. Honestly the worst enemy has been the first one you meet when you get to the dlc. That rings dude. I still don't understand them.
