No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

I feel like a big valid criticism of the DLC and the base game is how overtuned these boss fights are. The direction in boss design in this game is super drastic compared to other souls game. Like ive said before a lot of these boss fights involve watching the boss do some ridiculous string of attacks that only gives you the smallest of windows to attack in between. You either play that stupid game of waiting for that small window and lose a lot of player agency in the process or just resort to hit trading because fuck having to deal with that bullshit. With the DLCs new scaling system a lot of people cant go back to hit trading which they were probably forced to do in the base game due to the boss design issue. The problem with the argument of telling people to use summons is that summons trivialize the difficultly. So then you get left with 2 options, make the game super easy with summons where it isnt fun or continue to deal with the bullshit as stated previously. I can understand liking this new boss direction, but to ignore valid criticism in the new boss design as people needing to "git gud" is pretty ignorant. Ive seen a few different videos of souls fans not understanding how this DLC is getting mixed reviews and just chalking it up to players being bad but ive been a souls fan since the first Dark Souls and i completely understand why a lot of people including other life long souls fans wouldnt like this new direction.
As I’ve said, this game is by far their most popular title. it introduced the masses to From games. There are a ton of people who are not ready for this level of difficulty and it’s showing. It’s not a poorly made or designed DLC. People are learning that they have to actually learn boss mechanics and can’t face roll through it.

If Bloodborne had the mass appeal that this title had you’d best believe people would be screeching about Maria and Orphan as well.

If you’re whining about a boss two shotting you or that you aren’t doing enough damage, then yes, the issue is 100% on you and lack of skill. So getting better is one option, or you can use the mechanics of the game to get help.

I’m not seeing any long time Souls fans complaining about this DLC. It’s been near unanimous praise.

I'm specifically talking about boss design. The DLC outside the boss fights is fantastic. I doubt most would disagree with that, but it's the new direction of boss fights as I described is the main issue.

For you it is. The complaints I’ve seen levied at the game have been bosses hit too hard and I don’t know what to do about it.

We just had three people itt beat Messmer using completely different methods. The game isn’t pigeonholing you into anything. If you can’t find a play style that works for you because you were used to face tanking everything after farming a billion runes to become insanely overpowered then the DLC pry just isn’t for you.

I said for me personally I was playing way too relaxed and started to focus more. Messmer was the first really challenging boss so I decided I needed more iframes and a faster weapon. Sure enough that worked and I was able to get him down. I changed how I played to get better.

This shits fucking savage. Gaius and the Putrescent Knight can eat fucking shit

Not only lack of skill, lack of even playing the game. You can get 20 scadu levels before you fight the final boss.

He came back when I rested at the bonfire so I used your emote. That was very cool. Have you tried the item yet?
Apparently it's good. Idk what stat it scales with but you can put status on it and ashes of war.

Did anyone used the imbued sword key to open the portal up to the Ruah ruins or whatever they’re called? Is there no grace point up there? Is there anywhere to go or anything to do other than fight that one knight in the pond and then grab that one item?
Seems like it's just the one item. I took it and left after looking through everything

Can someone drop the Leda armor for me? The chest piece with the cape would be enough. She disappeared from my game and I'm locked out of her quest

Yeah you gotta dodge super late. I had to switch to a faster weapon for that fight.
Late? I was going to try rolling earlier but maybe you're right. I only made a few attempts and was getting nowhere.

It's not just my complaint. You don't have to pretend like bosses hiting way to hard is the only criticism that's being made towards the game. I just said the boss design has been an issue for people since the base game and that carries into the DLC. They are way to overtuned and that is a common criticism I see towards the DLC which I said is valid. When I went on steam reviews the first 3 negative criticisms I saw about the DLC were all about the boss design. I'm not even saying you or any other person enjoying the DLC is wrong for liking this new direction. Just a lot of us that prefer the original Souls boss design really don't like this overtuned style of bosses and think it overall hurts the game.

I’m sure some people are but what’s making headlines are tons of players saying it’s too hard.

Anyway, found my first really shitty boss fight that is 100% more difficult than it needs to be due to poor design and performance issues.

Looking at you Tree Avatar

Just started it. Took out blackknight by just rushing him down and keeping him stun locked and bleeding procs. Does the color palette change? Seems a little blah at the starting areas.

Old thunder ram didn't like me prancing through his little area... Dick.

Tons of shit in here I had no idea about.

Having to kill the fucking thing thrice is absurd
