Crime :eek::eek::eek: Prince gets away with it

I am. She was so close to the finish line. She could have made a difference. She said she wanted to.

You have no idea how sad this news made me. People who abuse kids and the elders are the lowest of the low. The authorities should still go after him, but they won't.
Everyone's dignity/moral code has a price.

I usually have the same approach. This one felt different. Giuffre sounded like she wanted justice. I feel like such an idiot.
I’m sure she did. But everyone has a price, and she’s found hers many times in her life. I don’t mean that to demean her. Most of us haven’t been out in situations where we are confronted with ours.

16 is legal in the UK but still, not a good look.

yes but if she was brought to the U.K. for that purpose it would be trafficking. Also in the U.K. the age of consent is raised if your in a position of “trust” so if a teacher or Dr had sex with a 16 year old it would be illegal. They could argue as a royal you have that position of trust.

Don’t want to sound like I’m victim blaming or unsympathetic but so much for the whole “it’s not about the money it’s about him admitting what he did, it’s about justice”. I can’t help feeling she has done a disservice to all the other victims. Easy for me to say though I’m not facing the might of a royal family.

one things for sure. Everyone will consider this a guilty plea

QFT
That would be a great solution.
Prince Edward Island recently became the first province in Canada to limit the enforceability of NDA's in such cases. We can only hope others follow. Meanwhile this is great place to raise your kids.

The question as well should be who's money? Andrew as I understand it isnt that wealthy so I'm guessing this has come from the Queen and maybe indirectly public funding?

You can't possibly be surprised though.

Agreed. Not surprised but still a little disappointed. If rich people are able to shell out some cash to avoid the legal consequences of fucking minors, we might as well just legalize underage prostitution and child trafficking and tax it.

If she accepted the settlement then this is on her. You have to believe that the compensation or such was worth more to her than continuing on with a trial would have been.

Best for everyone to focus on the remaining cockroaches involved in the Epstein case and make their crimes see the light of day.

I was under the impression, happy to be corrected, if you don’t take a settlement you can be found liable for lawyers fees at the end of the trial.

This might just be a UK thing though.

I like your solution better.

I wonder if anyone else remembers Clint Eastwood as Luthor in Absolute Power.

[Collin, disguised as a doctor, tries to kill Kate with an injection; Luther, also disguised as a doctor, comes up behind him and jabs a syringe into his neck]

Luther Whitney:
Dr. Kevorkian, I presume? My guess is this is right in your carotid artery about now. You're gonna get a little woozy. But if I give you the rest of this, it's gonna fry your brain down to the size of a peanut! Drop that.

[Collin drops the syringe, and Luther eases him down to the floor]

Tim Collin:
[whispering] Luther, he's my president, right or wrong.

Luther Whitney:
Well, he made a mistake. *You* made a mistake. When you went after my little girl, that was entirely unacceptable.

Tim Collin:
[pleading weakly] Mercy.

Luther Whitney:
I'm fresh out.

[Luther plunges the injection into Collin's neck; Collin groans as he dies]

Kate Whitney:
[starts waking up in hospital bed] Daddy?

Luther Whitney:
[softly] Go to sleep, darling.

Never seen it, but I love me some Clint Eastwood movies. Rewatched some of his spaghetti westerns a few months back. I dunno what it is, but classic westerns and a bottle of Whiskey is like the perfect combination.

Shouldn´t there be a lot more people going down for this?

It mentions he's sending money to her charity. I'm not sure if that's part of the settlement or additional PR. Assuming she gets a huge sum of money in to active programs she's created, and not just pocketing the majority and retiring in the Bahamas, I'd say she's making a difference.

Face it, a prince isn't facing a real jail term no matter how guilty he is, even if he was stripped of the title. A settlement that goes to active programs is going to have a far wider impact than sending one old man to house arrest in a mansion.

the pragmatist vs idealist. I side with the idealist, I think if we continue to accept these things we will never be able to change the norms of society. Maybe if we keep being idealists, in 50 years time it won’t sound so strange that a royal family member is going to prison.

I suppose one benefit of all this is that support for republicanism is shooting up in the youth.

Ok explain a few things because I haven't been keeping up with this.

I know she was abused by Epstein and had a shit life in general.

She was 17 when she met prince dick head. The legal age of consent in Britain is 16 so it may be creepy but not illegal. Is she saying he raped her? If she had sex willingly and/ or he fully believed she was a willing partner what is this about? The short version please.

There is already a narrative against him due to the Epstein association. He probably has been involved in some shady things but actually her case was not clear at all because as you mentioned 17 is legal in UK.
So she was a legal adult and was a willing partner who looks happy in the photos. She previously tried to falsely claimed she was 15 but was disproven on this.

She also helped groom actual underage girls much younger than her when she knew what she was doing, and is not facing any consequences so she gets little sympathy from me. Another Epstein victim has said she should be jailed also for grooming her.

It's obvious she was doing it for money and the fact she groomed younger girls shows she is of bad character. 17-18 yr olds should already know this is wrong.

Basically she is a money grabber who has sued multiple men for profit when she realized how much wealth she can generate. This is shown that she appears to have accepted £10 million for herself and only £2 million for her charities from her settlement.

I haven't seen one shred of evidence through this whole Epstein episode.

I heard a lot of hearsay and rumor but as for as cold hard facts, I haven't seen anything.
