The fact that people who become a nuisance to The Establishment tend to commit suicide, die in car accidents, have fatal heart attacks etc is entirely coincidental.

Formally very little but in writing he has almost supreme authority in the UK. All laws in the UK are in the name of the king and parliament can be broken or arranged by him. There were just a few wars and processes that made it so the king won't act on it. Within the royal family itself he has total authority.
By extension he controls a cohort of wealthy nobles and gentry who have money and land. He also has the brand and general name recognition, if king Charles walked into a bar and started stealing drinks he'd get away with it, and people would do what he asked out of courtesy. This is the reason the head royals are forbidden from discussing politics because their opinion would likely swing an election. They have the highest influencer capability basically

you think? maybe a generation or two ago. I think anyone disposed to giving the slightest fuck about what the monarch says is likely only voting a certain way in any case. Plenty of self-declared 'royalists' have held forth in great anger about 'Charles having gone woke (he mentions the climate, and now and then espouses empathy for the suffering, or counsels understanding of other cultures)', these people ain't voting left wing just because he says so.
Kinda by definition, royalists aren't left wing, and left wingers aren't royalists.
when Dear Old Queenie died it was marked, the generation gap, in terms of those who were doing the 'distraught in public' thing and those who weren't. The distraught ones were generally of a much older generation. Younger generations generally don't GAF about the royal family.

That was my moderate take. I have mates who had the unfortunate pleasure of serving under him in the Navy and guarding him at Sandringham. I knew a guy who dealt with Andrew when he was "special trade envoy" or whatever. He said that it is hard for a regular human being to understand how incredibly dense Andrew is + being an all around insufferable arrogant prick.
