I see this sort of idea being tossed around a lot. That is, the idea that a fighter somehow gets more prepared (?) or skilled (?) by taking an extra fight.
We know Chimaev’s MO. He would want to turn around and fight right away again, meaning there would not be a significant amount of time between the fights. So what would he really earn by fighting an extra fight before? It’s not like won by split decision vs those bums. He proved that he’s on a completely other level. He might have been a better fighter than Leon ever was, even before making his debut (we don’t know).

Hmm, not fair if you ask me. Didn't Leon lose like 12 lbs from being so sick? Is he still sick?

We've seen athletes in other sports out with a bad case of Covid and return in ten days or two weeks. Its possible Edwards got hit particularly hard, but there's nothing inherently unfair about giving a guy a month or more to recover.
