Leon already calls out Khamzat few months ago and the fight was supposed to happen on December 19th but both of them have COVID so the fight is been rescheduled January 20th 2021

I'm aware of what happened but Leon only accepted that fight after the ufc strongarmed him into accepting by removing him from the rankings. He never wanted that fight to begin with and if covid hit him that hard he definitely doesn't want to fight him that soon. I have little faith this fight happens in January but I hope I'm wrong.

This. I think Magny would have been a great fight to tell us where Chimaev is. If he loses, we pump the brakes a bit. If he wins, then it validates a later fight with the number 3 in the division.

We've seen athletes in other sports out with a bad case of Covid and return in ten days or two weeks. Its possible Edwards got hit particularly hard, but there's nothing inherently unfair about giving a guy a month or more to recover.

But didn't Edwards lose like 12 lbs? He's a lean guy who doesn't carry much fat at all as it is. Is he fully recovered?

In team sports I get it, but in an individual sport I'd certainly want to be fully recovered

They are probably just looking for a reason to cut him at this point. I think the temp removing him from the rankings was their warning.

I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if he was released after losing to Khamzat.

It is fair, Leon is already cured and we are on 11/12. In 9 days he will still have one month left.

Honestly I don't like this.

I want to see Khamzat fight Leon at his best, not his worst. It sounds like Leon has had a rough time with COVID and lost a bunch of weight. Let him get better and back to 100% before he fights Khamzat. I'm all aboard the Khamzat train and want to see him fight the best. A debilitated Leon Edwards is not the best.

Maybe just make the Magny fight or have Khamzat murder Mike Perry while Leon recovers

Considering Leon was his worst around 2 weeks ago and there is still 39 days left, plenty of time to recovery.

He will try to circle out of harms way but with khamzat there is harm everywhere his well rounded

Good point isnt Khamzat the type of Guy who wants to fight every weekend Magny said yes to the short notice fight and Khamzat did not respond isnt that weird

I don't think the UFC wanted to make that fight. I'm sure Khamzat would accept a high ranked opponent like Magny tomorrow if he had the chance.
