Media Edwards doesn't want to fight in July

I think we're being a bit harsh. He just fought in March, I've no problem with him taking a few months off and being back in camp during Summer to fight around October.

A lot of previous champs fought once a year (Khabib & Stipe spring to mind) and people let it slide

Yes I have, I follow the sport, apparently you don't. The Belal is on a 9 fight unbeaten streak has two top five wins and two top 10 wins Shavkat has two top 10 wins and is 17 and 0 with 17 finishes.

Colby doesn't have a winning streak and hasn't had one in 5 years, and hasn't beaten anyone on a winning streak in 5 years.

winning streak doesn't matter that much , quality of opponents matter and Colby's win streak since 2015 was broken only by the champ. Belal's most impressive win is over Steven Thompson .

Anyway dude, easy with trying to discredit people who disagree with you. If you think the number 2 contender in WW rankings is not worthy of a title shot but number 4,5 and 6 are , so be it. I don't think we will agree.

It's not just he is taking the time off, it's using the time off to duck Colby which the real issue here.

Usman was the worst match up..and he beat him twice...even though im not 100% on leons last win..he did win .

colby is a weaker version of Usman this was proven in there two fights ..

Leon has already beaten his worst match up ...outside maybe Khamzat who isnt professional enough to be a champion anyways..so he doesnt count

They are similar. And Usman is a better striker.

Colby has endless cardio and will be chasing takedowns the entire fight. He will limit the striking battles, while Usman welcomed the striking battles.

I wouldn’t criticize him in this case.

But he has always been like that, which is why it took him so long to get a TS. Every time he would build any momentum he would shoot himself in the foot by declining a fight or saying something stupid that made him sound entitled.
Leon signed on to fight khamzat on multiple occasions and cumshot pulled out. Same chicken shit masvidal at 269.
He wasn't actively inactive. Even his biggest Hater Dana confirmed this

Colby is the most over-ranked guy in the sport right now. He's already TWICE failed at title shots in his last 5 fights.

His most recent win is against a now retired guy who hasn't won a fight since 2018.

Most of the guys he beat were coming off a loss or multiple losses, and he's largely been inactive the last few years. Belal is head and shoulders more deserving of a title shot.

How in the world does Colby get three title shots in 5 fights? That is pants on head stupid.

Yeah some people have pulled out on him in the past, but there is still truth in him being pretty picky about when/who he fights.

Which is understandable from the fighters perspective, but it led to him being underrated and getting a TS later than he could have.

A lot of it is the things he would say publicly, someone like Khabib was picky as fuck about when/who he fought, but most people don’t think of him like that because he wouldn’t come out and publicly decline to fight Masvidal all to then agree to fight Masvidal a month later or whatever lol.

Whatever though, it all worked out for him in the end.

colby's best win is out of prime undersized RDA fighting at 170 and a 41 year old Damian Maia, that is true, but some of you have to realize his gimmick sells more than belal and burns. He's the poor mans conor mcgregor.

Exactly, and it's only because the UFC is lacking big cards that this is even a conversation
Edwards shouldnt be punished because of it

Everybody knows WHY he's getting the fight. Everybody but his braindead fans just disagrees with it.

Also its sort of a bad look for Colby, losing twice to Usman, then jumping at the guy who beat Usman twice
He couldnt do what Leon did, so winning the belt this way has a cheap feel to it

Styles make fights.
Do you really believe Leon is gonna beat Colby ?

Give him some time to fix his hairline. You guys are so demanding.

Seriously though he just did two camps against Usman. He needs some time off.
Fighting three days a year?
That's like 362 days off.

I have a feeling that is his way of avoiding Colby hoping it's too long for the guy to be sitting out.
Not at all - he's right that Colby is the BTEC community college Usman. Colby is a worse fighter than Usman, period. Close, but worse.
He's not afraid of fighting Colby.

Is this guy turning into a diva? First he doesn't want to fight Covington now he says July is too early ? TF? He fought in March that's like 4 months .

It's not how long you are champ Leon, it's how many times you defend the title.

Look at you now Leon , look at you now .

That's a fine layoff. A training camp is already 12 weeks or more and that's not something you can start overnight.

Sad that he defended against Usman, but let him rest. He has several worthy contenders, although I think Belal has the strongest claim.
